I've seen (and been in) similar situations before, and in all of them I can remember the pilot got owned.
I remember one time around a couple years ago where I shot a tank bullet into the air to test my aim, and the shell hit and destroyed a friendly plane (this was before the time of slayer where vehicles could be killed by friendly fire).
