Introduction

I'm a game developer from Croatia trying to make the biggest and most ambitious project of my life a reality. I am currently studying graphic design, but making games has always been my life's goal. I'm completely broke (like the rest of this fair country) and need your help.

Tainted Fate will be a first person survival horror adventure for PC and MAC (if neoaxis engine gets Linux support by the time the game comes out, then Linux too).

I decided for fixed funding because taking money from you even if I don't reach my goal just doesn't seem right. 3000$ is the minimum I need to fulfill my vision of what the game will be.

I was actually really impressed when I saw this was made by 1 guy with the help of a coder.

It was made with the NeoAxis engine, a really small but nice looking engine. The guy needs some money apparently for a new PC.

Played in first person, it immerses you into a dynamic story that depends on your decisions featuring two protagonists in different timelines on the same island.
Escape horrifying monsters, solve puzzles and make decisions that will alter yourself and the shape of the world.

The first storyline set in the 1940's follows a man convicted of murder and sent off to the island for the rest of his life. Soon after being dropped off, strange things start to happen as you explore the island, later developing into a story full of mystery, arcane magic twisted with technology and terrifying hostile beings.

The second storyline is set in 2012 and features a young female amateur filmmaker that investigates sites with supposed paranormal activity. Upon hearing about the long abandoned island filled with stories about magic and ghosts, she immediately leaves for the island to film the most terrifying film of her life.

Tainted Fate is being developed in NeoAxis engine and uses the latest effects like Depth Of Field, SSAO, FXAA and Light Scattering to create an immersive and atmospheric world for you to plunge into.

Why am I only asking for $3000?

Because I only need a new PC (I can't even run my own game at 30fps on this machine) a Mac for testing and a digital camera for texture-making. And a bunch of other things like server costs for the website and all that. Also food.

Does not look unique at all.

looks like a less appealing version of amnesia

At first, I wasn't very impressed. I thought "Oh the models and textures are good... But I'm not really impressed" until I saw it was made by ONE GUY. That is making a game with a bad PC, and I do believe I saw somewhere, all the textures were taken with an iPhone. As it states, the guy can't make it exactly how he wants it unless he gets a new PC, he said he can barely run it with 30 fps.

Okay so what. He could've made it with EA's support for all I cared, but it's not unique at all.

I hope this doesn't fail. I know he is in early stages of the game, but it looks like it could live up to some potential. I definitely like the whole medieval feel to it as well. I'll keep my eyes on this game for sure.

Looks like Dear Esther
I'd play this

Reminds me of Dear Esther, a game in which i adore, mixed with Amnesia, a good game, and a dab of Myst.

This actually looks really neat
I'll be donating at least 20 dollars

Did you look at the pictures or did you watch the video?

There will be an upgrade to the quality, plus, the graphics aren't what's interesting about this.

It's pretty cool too, cause I've talked to the guy who's making this via internet. He's a really cool guy. I watched in interview about him, and he wants to open a game studio where he lives, but apparently prices are really sky rocketing where he is.

Anyways, when this game comes out, I'd say it should definitely cost over $15.

Oh, BTW just found out that there is a Pre-Alpha demo :D

http://www.indiedb.com/games/taintedfate/downloads/playable-pre-alphatechdemo

I saw somewhere, that the actual Alpha demo will include NPC's, Cut Scenes, Monsters, etc.

This basically exploring the island.

A dynamic storyline sound really cool. The graphics make me think cartoony instead of scary though.

$3,000 for a new PC? I smell scam

It's just a bunch of low poly models with a tree bark shader applied to every surface. This looks terrible.
