Author Topic: School Days Missed  (Read 1538 times)

To make it short, you can only miss 12 excused days at my school (Not DOCTOR excused).
I feel awful, and I only have one day left for me to use.
And I still have the whole 4th nine weeks.
My parents won't be home until 4PM.
What do I do?

a girl in my class is like "if i dont want to go to school, i dont have to go"
so she goes once every week, or twice every month
anyways, that sucks. 12 days to miss school.

I know, I forget the consequence if you miss anymore than twelve.
I think it's detention or something.
Also, what I don't understand is how my friend has missed weeks of school and he won't talk to me about how he does it...

Update: Got my mother to call me off for today.
Mainly because I'm stressed, didn't sleep, and my body temperature is a bit low.
Stressed because my bro from the Air Force came back, stayed for two weeks, left for a whole year.
He left yesterday, I got 2 hours of sleep.

You're only allowed to have 8 at my school and if you pass 8 you have to talk to the administrators or get held back.

That KINDA seems like the same situation.

If it's just detention then who cares?
It's not like you go to hogwarts.

I kinda wanna keep my record clean in this school.

there was a girl that only showed up for 2 days a quarter

You can miss as many excused days as you want and same for doctor excused days too. It's only the unexcused absences that get you in trouble at my school

I suffer a bit more with a few others.
I would love to go to a school like that. I usually do get sick easily.
Also, like the Shellnut profile pic.

some kid at my school got expelled cause he missed like 2 months worth of school and then never made up the work LOL

My cousin in college doesn't go to classes
instead she just watches the class online
and you know, do the homework.

My old schools and my current college work on an Attendance system.

At the schools, if you've got an attendance rating lower than 95%, then you're in trouble and have warnings.
If you miss lessons without them being signed out by a parent (calling in sick) then you're likely in detention and have a warning (for truancy).
If you're consistently off, I think they expect to have a Doctor's note to explain the reasons.

At College, if you have an attendance lower than 80% in any lessons, then you'll get warnings and be put onto contracts.
Basically saying that if you don't start turning up, then you can be kicked out from college (even if you're only missing something like tutor [Not a subject] but going to all your actual courses).

Since theattendance at College is entirely optional and up to you, they have a different method for signing out.
I can go onto my College website, log in, and report an absence for a large number of reasons. Illness, funerals, medical appointments, having to care for a child or loved one, job interviews, etc...
This is all fine, and using it is acceptable, but if overused (and attendance rating slips) you get in trouble.
If you're constantly signing yourself out as sick, you'll require a doctor's note to explain why you're so frequently sick.
Missing lessons without signing out is quickly asking to get in trouble and be put on contract or expelled.
