Author Topic: Ever wondered why you can't see your legs in videogames?  (Read 2980 times)

This game here uses first and third person meshes.

Third person mesh is an entire model of the character so it's able to cast a reflection on the water.

First person mesh has modeled hands, guns and legs.

Also as a bonus this does not get in the way of your field of vision from down below.

Also how many first person games do you know that uses a reflection source without feet/body meshes in a non-cutscene way?

Dosen't Arma II put the camera on the thirdperson model for firstperson?

what game is that, Crysis?

Dosen't Arma II put the camera on the thirdperson model for firstperson?

yes

Arma 2, Mirror's Edge and Age of Time are the only games I've seen that actually do it properly.
Mount & Blade series.

Dosen't Arma II put the camera on the thirdperson model for firstperson?

You could do that too to save time but it sometimes feels and looks awkward.

You could do that too to save time but it sometimes feels and looks awkward.

Then ARMA 2 feels and looks awkward, also the mount and blade series setup their first person cameras like that.

Then ARMA 2 feels and looks awkward :(

Well if you want fully detailed and fluid animations you need both a third and first person mesh. Could take about a month or two of development time just to do this which is why games like CoD choose not to do this so they can ship the next game out as fast as possible. They could do it, they just are lazy.

Other developers don't do it because they can't afford to do it. Any developer with enough time (DNF) can easily do this without a problem.

deus ex human revolution has the best excuse for not having working mirrors in any game i've seen

Now, if we play as a female why can we not see our tits in first person? I find that issue outrageously loveist >:(

You talk about the Deus Ex series a lot, your favorite? I still have a copy of the first game and I'm on break, we should play together sometime.
