Author Topic: Tau Cannon  (Read 2907 times)

The Tau Cannon was my favorite gun in the first Half-Life, and I think it would be awesome to have it in Blockland.
If anyone has the time to make a Tau Cannon weapon for Blockland, that would be epic!

And (This is optional) getting it to work with Tier Tactical's Ammo System and have it add a new Depleted Uranium ammo-type
that adds 20 ammo per container would be neat

i think the tau cannon model that was on the jeep in hl2 looks cooler than this one imo

I know, but I'm talking about the one in Half-Life 1. Because there wasn't a handheld Tau Cannon in Half-Life 2, that was cut from the final game. And because the model's so basic, You could just import it and it would fit with the Blockland theme perfectly.

he's got a point

blockland's theme isn't low-poly, it's simplified. you'd need a new model.

besides that it's probably more of an effort to figure out how to import SMDs anyway

By default, Milkshape imports SMDs.

what really

i never needed to so i never noticed

This is the most ugly model I have ever seen
Half Life was made back in the 1990s, there were some serious limitations back then

The why does he suggest porting exactly that model to blockland and not making a new one?

Probably because he thought it looked low poly and assumed it would have fit right into Blockland

Yeah, it's actually the first import option in Milkshape.

Although I don't know where the SMD's are within the Half-Life game files.

They need to be decompiled, Milkshape 3D has stuff for compiling(?) and decompiling Half Life MDL files, but i've never used them, so i'm not sure how well it works

However, there is a MDL decompiler that i've used that works for most Source Engine games that's made by Cannonfodder (and fixed by a dude named Hooch), so you could use Half Life Source instead

1998 to be exact. :P

Originally, you would be able to use the Tau Cannon in Half-Life 2. This was removed from the final game, but seems to be completely finished in the leaked beta.
