Author Topic: Google, stop trying to make youtube into a social network.  (Read 1898 times)

However I still don't see why it annoys people about IRL Names though.
Because I don't want my real name on my youtube account or anything else on the internet?

I thought this way too, but honestly I don't even notice when someone has their real name enabled much less Google them to find out their personal information. I think we're all being a little paranoid.

I like how a few years back it was urged that you didn't use your real name in your username on YouTube, now they're trying to make you do it.

My name is Nathan Alfieri, it's my current Skype name.
But that doesn't mean that's what I want people to see when they watch my videos.

That's why I register most things with a fake name. On a lot of websites I'm Daniel Adams (Hence Dorkdotdan) and admittedly I am trying to remove my real name from a lot of sites.

I only use my real name on sites that require payment info now.

They haven't asked me to change my name in ages. It pops up like once every few months, It's really not that big of a deal.

do this

i have 2 alternate names

It is a social network though; but it's purpose is to share videos.

I will buy google and name it bloogle and blocktube

That's the point.
They're not working at all and still making money. That's wrong.
They're not contributing anything, which wouldn't bother me much, except every time they say "comment like subscribe to my vids lol" they're essentially begging. Not to mention there's so many loving let's players it's ridiculous.
It's google. They pay people to be billboards. They don't care what your video is. If they can get you to show 800,000 people an ad, then they'll gladly pay you a portion of what they make from the advertisers. Which is why google thrives in profit from a bunch of free services.

I've never been watching an episode of Breaking Bad to see Walter come out and ask me to add AMC to my favorites.
Many shows pretty much do the equivalent by asking you to stay on the channel during the commercial break. But I do agree with you on the fact that asking for you to do these things is rather childish.

Its funny because if everyone just started getting adblock, theyd be seriously hurt.
