This news hit me right in the childhood
I remember I was so excited when I first got my Wii, it's sad to see it finally recede into death
RIP in peace Wii :c

Sucks that those channels are going, at least virtual console is still here though. :D

That is handicapped. Cmon Nintendo!

In comparison to Xbox where it was supported till 2007 after the Xbox360 was released, this is a pretty damn short time to cut the plug on a console's internet services, but why would they support a pretty much dead console since there is a new one out already? The Wii U has a perfect Wii emulator. All the Wii U is missing is the GameCube controller ports, but i bet that the GameCube controllers can be replaced with the Pro controller or the classic one. I sure hope EA doesn't cut the multiplayer mode from BF3 any time soon when BF4 comes out.

You should post stuff like this to the Nintendo Megathread.

I didn't think Nintendo was so quick to abandon their outdated consoles. Fortunately I don't think many people still use those channels, they were more gimmicks that you use for the first week after bringing home your Wii than anything.

I don't think Nintendo is closing down it's actual online games, just those services. Might be wrong though.
I doubt they'd shut down the Mario Kart Wii servers and such this early.

I bet it's the servers soon

awe
At least it's a way to get my mom to buy a Wii U!
:D

They'll probably at least wait till Mario Kart U is out.

"idea, let's force our customers to a different product!"

I thought the wii u ran on wii systems

I think they're only cutting the service channels themselves, not the game servers. Still,
I didn't think Nintendo was so quick to abandon their outdated consoles.

thats prob why they did it. because the wii U is doing very very bad.

nintendo was right to catch the entire casual gamer market with the first wii. what they forgot, is that casual gamers dont continue to spend money on games...
