Author Topic: Just wondering, why is everyone against the Gun Control bill?  (Read 5261 times)

Let me tell you something.

You know what the difference between an AK-47 and a Beretta is? Appearance and function.

So if you gave one of each weapon to two people, you know who would win in a shootout?

The person who fires first.

/thread

It's pretty loving common. Do you even know what goes on in some places? In fact I've heard my dad tell me of more than one occasion where he was jumped by multiple people.
Maybe in Toontown, but out in the real world you'd probably only need a full-on assault rifle if you were getting burgled by a bear. Or six bears.

To Qwepir and Reson, the situation I was using is, say, 5 people break into your house and are all armed. If you manage to get the jump on them, attacking with a handgun would get you killed because it can't actually fire as fast as a god damn assault rifle. Why not have the chance to have better protection? Plus, it would be sold for more money.

ITT: ignoramus and "freedom" circle jerk

YEP MAKES A LOT OF SENSE THANKS FOR MORE OF YOUR VALUABLE INSIGHT AS ALWAYS JACKSAUNT
See you always get way too caught up in arguments and you end up raging.
When you say stuff like this it only gives me more reason to not like you.

That and the ignorance you're constantly arguing for
You realize
that isn't rage
god damn i'm not that stupid. And just because you disagree with me means I'm automatically wrong? Oops that's right I forgot it's impossible for you to be wrong about anything what was I thinking there.

the person who shoots first is not promised to be the victor. you seen to many movies. even people who are good shots miss or need multiple hits.

Hey, you can't just say "a handgun". There are different types that have different functions. Some are automatic, some are semi-auto, etc. If you've got an itchy triggerfinger (which I know I would in a panic situation), I'd have all five down in two seconds flat.

You do realize how absolutely unrealistic and ridiculous that is, right? This isn't call of duty, you would waste all of your bullets and maybe kill one of them.

I have seen some clips on the news where police officers empty their entire pistol into suspect who would not step down. As a guy who is in college who studying criminal justice in hope of one day being a sworn officer of the law I can say that the typical officer isn't going to see a fire fight in his career. Those that do tend to get full of adrenaline and just unload on a guy. Now tell me who you would be more worried about, the hyperactive cop or the hoodlum with a gun.

On the subject of the police, a metro cop can respond anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. A town cop can respond within 30 minutes to 1 hour and a small town cop will be on seen in a heart beat. County Sherriff Deputy can take hours to arrive on seen out in the rural areas, same thing with state police like Highway Patrol and State Troopers. Also in many states local law enforcement agencies are getting their budgets cut, which means you will your specialists layed off and fewer patrolmen on the streets. Not good in a city environment where you are spread thin and need help right away. In my opinion non lethal shotgun projectiles like bean bag rounds and rubber buckshot should be available for civilian ownership as an alternative to buckshot(normal buckshot and lethal ammo should also be sold, but the nonlethal stuff should mostly be sold in big cities).  This way people can repel home invaders without killing them. Also long ranged tazers and pepper balls for paint balls should also be sold to civilians, especially in cities where gun control is strong. Currently all these things are only available to police and military.

I don't play FPS games like Call of stuff and Battlestuff 3.

Once every other month, I go hunting with my dad.

Honestly, it's more unrealistic and ridiculous that more than two people would be breaking into my apartment.

You also realize that assault rifles are big and (comparatively) unwieldy in the confines of a house, right? This isn't a video game, you have to worry about things like "will this thing fit down a hallway and allow me to quickly bring it up to aim if i need to?" and such.

Depends on where you live. In my county there are gangs raiding people's homes who grow marijuana.
