if you're not doing anything illegal, what's the problem? the government doesn't care if you have secrets you don't want your parents to know

It's still a matter of privacy. People would feel safer and more secure doing anything if they knew they weren't being constantly monitored, or their private information isn't being handed out.

what is bad about that
I live in Kentucky, thats why its bad. (if you meant the richard part)

im not doing anything illegal, its just the fact that there are some things that need to be kept to myself, and before you know it they'll have tabs on everything, they can simply search someone up and they could tell you what your favorite food is
its just creepy

maybe I'm just weird. I wouldn't feel any less safe in those situations

I honestly always thought the government watched what we did. So this wouldn't affect me one bit.

its not like that its the stuff i want to keep personal but cant, lets take for example my taste in music, lets say i secretly love justin bieber, i cant hide the fact that my purchase history shows that i do, i dont want the gov't keeping tabs on that and monitoring it

but they could give themselves the right to sell your information
Only if you give them information to sell

Only if you give them information to sell
there was an old saying that said
"if you're not paying for a product, you ARE the product"
theres always going to be information to sell, whether you like it or not

you bought something from them; that gives them some pretty good information right there
there's also what you bought, which could help choose what advertisements to show you

i dont care what they know, its what they do with that information i care about
You do realize they won't search through your info unless the have a reason to right

but the government doesn't care about that
well yeah, its a placeholder for something else, like my political views or something
You do realize they won't search through your info unless the have a reason to right
they'll find a reason regardless if im doing something illegal or not
"oh he looks suspicious"

they'll find a reason regardless if im doing something illegal or not
"oh he looks suspicious"
I cannot express in words how dumb this sounds.
Even if they do look at it they'll be like "k he's just [insert whatever they found out here], moving on"

"This teenager is looking at nuclear pictures for Blockland? Suspicious!"

i dont mind them looking into me, its the fact that they'll probably record it
i have a record with authorities, its not cool

"This teenager is looking at nuclear pictures for Blockland? Suspicious!"
"oh right, it's just a kid, and it's a game. it would be ridiculous to assume he could be doing anything related to nuclear weapons"
