Author Topic: Looking for a game $40 or under, open world like GTA IV  (Read 615 times)

I'm thinking either:

Mafia II
Saints Row 3 (Which is still expensive.)
SLEEPING DOGS (Really like this one. Not sure though.)

Let me know what GTA IV-like games there are.

San Andreas'

Just Cause 2

San Andreas' I already own the game, got bored with it inb4 hate

Just Cause 2 How many cars are there?

Mafia 2 isn't really that open. You're kinda forced to do missions.
Also, I really didn't like the game that much.. They should've stuck with the multiple endings like they had planned.

Saints Row the Third can get boring fast but as for open world.. it's pretty god damn open.. You can do quite a bit of fun activities and even mess around with friends.

Haven't played Sleeping Dogs, heard good things though.

If you plan on buying Just Cause 2 I'd wait for a sale. That game goes down to like $5 if I recall correctly.

Get Mafia II, it's a great game and the storyline is realistic, and so are the graphics and design of the game.

You could maybe get L.A. Noire..
Rather cheap and pretty interesting and fun. That is if you like being a detective and yelling at wives who murder their husbands and what nots.

Far Cry 3 is 30 dollars on steam

Just Cause 2
it's a great game

Just cause 2. Wait for summer sales to get SR3, the game and all DLC will be dirt cheap if it goes 75% off

L.A. Noire is pretty good. Not quite the kind of open world OP wants, I don't think, though.

Saints Row 2 is $15. The PC port is notoriously poor - worked great for me, but had terrible framerate issues for a friend of mine. Still, if you like GTA 4, and want to take the chance if you get it on PC, it's a lot like that. It also goes on sale alongside SR3 a lot, albeit with less notice, so you could wait for that too if you want.

Get red faction guerrilla if you don't have it already.
It has a huge open world ( on mars )
It has pretty graphics
It has an AMAZING physics engine allowing you to spend hours and hours taking down buildings with your hammer / explosives / vehicles
It has great vehicle physics/vehicle destrunction/vehicle-building-interaction/destruction
With the right tools the game can be modded easily ( an invincible flying artillery tank with rapidfire nukes at the spawn point isn't a problem, or how about an assault rifle shooting mines? what about deleting all stupid enemies so they don't distract you while demolishing buildings with your pistol which is secretly a rocket launcher?)
This game is awesome and I can't stop playing it since 2010

However the next title (red faction armaggedon) is complete stuff, and the poor sales on it killed off the franchise.

And it costs only like $10-15 on steam!
