Pretty sure if you lean forward with your head forward the blood follows where gravity takes it, IE out your nose and not into your mouth.

The bleeding stopped, but my nose is red and it's very itchy. Is that normal? Should I keep pinching it?

The redness and itchiness is dried blood. Don't pinch it anymore or it'll keep bleeding.
