Author Topic: would it be possible to host a 300 player slayer tdm?  (Read 2551 times)

I'd say it is possible, but it would be laggy as forget having to recieve every one of the client's positions.
and dont forget about weapons

i don't think you can stably have more than 99 players spawned in a server

possibly incorrect information, remember hearing it from someone i'd expect to know a lot about that sort of thing

seems slightly incorrect though

2000 bricks, low poly civil war era weapons that shoot every 2 minutes

It might be possible, don't know

i dont think you could get 300 people to join any server.
if you were promising money and researcho to everyone maybe

I'll buy if your in it.

300 is more than half of all the players that are playing Blockland when it's at its highest activity.

Highly unlikely

Not the point.

The engine currently lacks support for having even 90 players moving.

That would be one massive war. It would be neat though it wouldn't really support that many players.

Plausibility aside, I can't imagine who would want to be on a server with 300 people. Just imagine the chat; it'd be flowing too fast to have a conversation with anyone.

Yeah Kalphiter's was over 150. 300 players is possible.
Except that Kalphiter's server crashed due to memory limits.

You would shoot one bullet and get a 25 kill streak.

If you had six servers with a 50 player limit each and some wierd synchronization mod running between all of them, sure.

It will not, however, be pretty.

Except that Kalphiter's server crashed due to memory limits.
2011: memory limit reached twice and caused a crash around 107 players
2012: crashes due to improperly package code; fixed hours before the main event which reached 127 players
2013: no crashes, 151 players

That's interesting, do you think it has to do with the removal of terrains and interiors and limitation to 20 vehicles?

It has nothing with that, however there may have been lower-than-normal CPU usage. I had 151 players and only 75% CPU usage.
