Poll

If maps could be reimplemented tomorrow without any consequences, would you want them?

Yes
No

I just want to do a quick survey about maps. I want to figure out some, what I believe are, interesting facts about the community.

If you have anything to say feel free to leave a post.

Without consequences, then yes.

But I wouldn't trade them for what we have now.

If it was an addition to the game that caused no problems, then fine. No reason not to have them.

Poll? Yes. Because there are no consequences.
no consequences.

This survey is loving meaningless. Who wouldn't want them back if there weren't any consequences?!

Apparently one person.

I don't see why they can't just code them back in to work with the shadows. I mean, sure it would be work, but what isn't?

I know nothing of the coding behind making Blockland, nor of how Maps worked or what exact problems they caused in coding.

But I can only assume that even if Maps were capable of being re-implemented in some way, shape or form that didn't break other functions or restrict further development, it's just not a high priority for Badspot.

It's not a necessity for the game, and there are other functions/aspects of the game that could do with additional work on them and have been in need of a touch-up for some time.

By all means, hold hope that perhaps they can be reimplemented at some time, hopefully in a better quality than we ever had them before.
But there's no point holding your breathe over it or focussing whole-heartedly about it. If it happens, it happens.
There are plenty of other things to look forward to first.

The reason they were removed is because they caused A LOT of work.

You guys are forgetting that Badspot wanted to remove terrain not only because of the coding being complicated but the fact that they looked "old" or IMO "ugly". Now the interiors look fairly nice but terrain looks kind of ugly and I ALWAYS found it a little strange to build on terrain and have your baseplate look slanted.

Personally, even if they worked absolutely perfectly and caused no problems for Badspot in coding for new updates, or for having shadows/shaders, I don't think I'd want them back as they were.

If they could be returned to us with all the kinks ironed out, but looking exactly the same, I'd probably prefer if they were ignored until they were made better looking. They can be a lot of fun and look alright, but I'm sure that we can do better.
