Character's Name: Jared Burton
Character's age: 31
Gender: Male
Future Ambitions: Jared hopes to one day become a prominent leader so that he can someday stop the bickering between the three factions and start rebuilding humanity.
Skills: Jared has some experience at a law firm and has studied basic government systems. He also had a hobby for tinkering with electronics in his spare time.
Character's Appearance (In-game screenshot or Describe): He commonly wears a green hoodie with black pants and faded leather shoes.
Character's biography/back-story (make this 3-4+ paragraphs w/ 5+ sentences each, and relate to the story): Jared Burton, Age 31, was born in Crescent City, CA., to a poverty-stricken family of six. His father was paid little morethan minimum wage at a nearby fast-food resturaunt, and his mother was a stay-at-home type. Being the youngest son of the family was rather tough on him, as he commonly received the family's hand-me-downs, or nothing at all. However, when he began his studies at school, his teacher soon found he had a knack for social studies and reccomended it to him. His life just seemed to be getting better, but in the spring of '09, it was discovered that his mother had gradually been developing ovarian cancer. The miracle drug had been reccomended to her, but seeing as the family had little enough money as it was, they couldn't afford it.

After this diagnosis, his father began to develop a serious addiction to alcohol. After a domestic violence call at their household at 3:47 AM, on February 3rd of 2010, it was discovered that, in a drunken rage, Mr. Burton had stabbed his wife in the torso repeatedly. According to testimony from his children, he repeatedly screamed at her and yelled at her, in various tones, about his anger "at his wife's broken parts". Mr. Burton was prosecuted and sentenced to 25 years prison time without possibility of parole. Just as his life was beginning to turn around, suddenly Jared was stripped of all he knew and sent to live in foster homes across the west coast, from Seattle to San Diego. Growing up as a troubled teenager seriously affected him, and after a while was sent to live with yet another family in Alaska.

Something about this family was different, however. Call it maturity or emotional stability, but he grey to like this new group of people, as they truly accepted him as their own flesh and blood. He grew up in that household, and later on went to gain a Master's degree in Government at UCLA, intending to go into a law firm, and perhaps later into politics. After graduating, he moved on to found Steven&Burton Law LLC in Nome, Alaska. They worked as partners for several years,s handling all types of cases. When the outbreak began, however, Jared quickly sensed something wrong. He backed out of the firm, sold his possessions, and moved to a more remote part of Alaska. The outbreak quickly spread through the city, and Jared lived by himself in the woods for a while before those... Things... finally got to him. Even now, he is staggering through the woods towards Greenwood, hoping to reach safety.

IC Information

Character's Name: Hinrik Áki
Character's age: 30
Gender: Male
Future Ambitions: Commit to "Operation Maelstrom", an operation to reclaim the ship he had lost, in order to escape the hell that is now the 7 continents. If a failure, survive as long as possible, document the new virus, and attempt to find a temporary cure.
Skills: Good with diseases and viruses, as well as wildlife.
Character's Appearance (In-game screenshot or Describe):

Character's biography/back-story (make this 3-4+ paragraphs w/ 5+ sentences each, and relate to the story):

Hinrik grew up in Southern Iceland. The one and only son of his family, Hinrik had it easy. A father who had a good paying career, and a mother that cared for him. In a country like Iceland, the cities are spread apart--it is a rare occasion that an area would be close and urban like that of New York City. Because of this, he got the opportunity to see wildlife at its finest. He was fascinated by the wildlife that ventured in his part of the country, stopping to study and examine them during the day when he was going about his business. Eventually, he went to the University of Iceland, going into biological courses, helping him learn how to study the wildlife and pursue his dreams. He learned to study things from killer whales to viruses, preparing him for the future he was unknowingly walking into. He graduated in 2011 with full Doctorate's degree in Biology. After a year, he left his home town due to being offered a rather marvelous working position.

Hinrik was offered a job aboard a research vessel known as the Maelstrom. The Maelstrom was a research vessel that traveled throughout the southern parts of the Arctic ocean that would study marine life and test the resistances of viruses and bacteria in a hostile environment. With Hinrik's expertise in small-scale biological lifeforms, he was of course assigned to studying viral infections and bacterias. Things were going well for Hinrik, enjoying studying microbial life with little to no distractions. However, shortly after accepting such a job offer, he was notified of a new product that was being produced known as the "Genemeter", which was quickly sweeping the nation. Samples of the new "serum" was delivered to the ship by aircraft. Hinrik was interested in studying the Genemeter, but was denied that opportunity when the crew and captain of the ship had injected themselves with it without any second thought from the biologists. Eventually, the supply of Genemeters on the ship was dry.

In November of 2012, the Maelstrom had headed in to Pt. Barrow, Alaska, in order to refuel and resupply on many necessary resources for human life. One early morning, Hinrik noticed an abnormal silence that had filled the ship completely; nobody to be seen in the mess hall, and most of the research annexes were emptied out. In suspicion, Hinrik searched around his area of the ship, and eventually looked out on the top deck, immediately noticing a violent and strange unfolding of events. The crew members--and the captain himself--had been changed by the Genemeter, exhibiting irrational and unparalleled savagery. In fear, he ran back to his research wing, packing up what he could: a laptop, a small satellite antenna, and a crate of supplies. He took one of the jeeps from the cargo bay and evacuated the ship, bringing no one with him. Speeding through the research facility of Pt. Barrow, it seems the entire area had become swept with this contaminant, cities falling apart from the lack of order due to this strange disease that had struck.

Eventually, the inevitable occurred. His jeep had broken down when he was heading through the forest. He used what was left of the jeep's battery in order to find some place to take immediate shelter, his laptop hooked up to the aforementioned antenna. Looking around, a nearby town known as "Greenwood" was found about 15 kilometers away. At this point, he knew one thing only: if there was any shelter, Greenwood was his opportunity. With the battery of the jeep dead, and his supplies completely exhausted, he set out for the town of Greenwood, hoping to find some way to survive for as long as he could.

make a new roleplay with some kind of google docs-esque submission system for the whitelist
this entire topic is just people trying to get characters in, and then getting "no's" in return
and the chapter-after-chapter is 2often

new roleplay is good once and a while

Plus do you know how much we put into this RP?

Though a way to submit whitelist apps via something other than the forums is a good idea

He can still suggest ideas.

Though I don't agree with the fact that would should make a new roleplay I think we should have a different way of submitting character applications. This way is really inefficient :\

It would be nice if there were a faster way to get these reviewed. Mine's been sitting here for a week now with no response and I've got that RP itch somethin' furious.

I agree with the whitelist part, though definitely not the Roleplay. I don't see how chapters are going too fast at all considering how we've not even hit Chapter III yet, with the server being run for just around 18 months now.

Anyway, I haven't been looking at applications really because for several reasons. First of all is the fact no one bothered to sent a private message, in which the application asks people to do. Second of all, roleplay is incredibly slow as of now and everyone is waiting for Alphadin to finish his work so we can start Chapter III, and I am clueless as to why people happen to be applying during the period nothing is happening. I would much rather accept people during an actual chapter so they don't gain terrible impressions of the server. I would also like to note that by applying on the steam group things are much easier for me, as I get notifications while actually being able to manage topics and reply to specific applications without clunking up any other discussion.

Chapter II as many others can agree was a load of complete bollocks. After trying supposedly "helpful criticisms" to minimize story telling and events from super-expert-bluzone-veteran role-players,  the result of Chapter II was the most un-eventful chapter possible. With the new features we have assess to in Chapter III, we are able to go back to what made Chapter I way more exciting.

i guess i've just seen "OMG WINTERBITE BACK" or something so many times and then nothing happened and i just wondered why you kept trying because it didn't seem to be working
but i've also had these kinds of rp hiatus's too back in my server so i understand.

It's just people getting stupidly hyped for no reason what so ever.
