I absolutely hate Kaiiu, and don't necessarily agree with his initial point, but I am remotely disgusting by some of the behaviors prompted by peoples of this group. For the most part, it was generated through the concept being "unique," and fueled by rebellious teens. This blew up, and it soon became a poor thing to dislike the show. I get that there's a hypocrisy to that, considering people preach it's a poor thing to LIKE the show, but this shouldn't mean you need to keep pretentiousness in its vicious cycle. I know many people who enjoy MLP, and do not boast it to an extreme. But when someone who considers themself apart of a major fangroup goes on a raid proclaiming they're of a fanbase, it's incredibly irritating. Transformers fans, Zelda fans, Twilight fans, Sonic fans, etc. I actually like Zelda and Transformers, but I never proclaim it to an extreme -- I see people going out of their way just to boast of their knowledge on the subject, which seems to be extremely prominent within the "brony" community. It's a disgusting behavior that most 13 year old gossiping teenage females act on.
Now, as Kaiiu's does not, my argument is only directed at those who actually abide by the stereotype.
However, I will, no matter what, stand by my "it's unique, let's like it!" standard. We get several mediocre television shows being blasted out, ones far greater than MLP, yet most haven't launched the same omnoxious fanbase.
To be frank, if you refer to yourself as a "brony," you're enough for me to ignore. If you enjoy the show, that's fine, but you don't need to exclaim it to unnecessary levels.
I like Zelda, but you don't see me prancing around stating "I'm a hylian!"
..Or brolian, what ever sounds more pompous.
