Author Topic: Tests, Please [Fan-Remake of Papers, Please] (Beta coming in 1 or 2 days)  (Read 1852 times)

This is a fan-remake game of Papers, Please. If you do not know what that game is right now, please look-it http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=231251.0

The game as it is now

I currently have the title, and the introduction done. It's going to be mostly about a teacher checking school grades. Please give any suggestions.

Also, I forgot. Use the arrow keys to move the paper

The new version

Once the student reaches the teachers desk, it does some random collecting from arrays to determine his/her gender and name. I think it prints it out to you

It's a really great start so far.

Neat. I look forward to the completed version.

Yay for student answers. I haven't finished the name yet but I will get there. Here is the updated version:

http://puu.sh/2JaZh.swf

Here are some things you will have to check for:

Did not enter your name. -20 points
Did not answer a question -14 points

There will be more, but I can't think of any right now so it would be cool if you could suggest some. I will add in a rule book like in the previous game. The rule book will show you how many points you lose for whatever errors there are in the test. There will also be a points-to-grade conversion so you can input the grade in an area I will have included in the test sheet later.

Why is it being made in .swf as opposed to just a mod for the game

So i can edit more things? I haven't really checked out the mods for the game yet but I know it's bound to have limitations.

Ah ok.  As far as I can tell looking at the game assets (I was a bit interested in making a mod for a second), you can edit sprites (which is basically all the graphics) and script dialog.  I figure you could just edit all those to reflect tests/etc.

The font for the name is Calvin. I picked it to reflect a sort of hand-writing style font. Do you like this one, or do you think there is a better one to use? Suggest

Why not keep the most updated version in the OP?

Nah.

I'm creating the rulebook right now. I'm thinking it should take up the whole screen space rather than a small portion of the screen.. Or wait a minute..

I just thought of an idea on how it can take up a small portion of a screen

Also here is your beloved teacher's manual that you will use throughout my game

Make the papers move WAY faster, or make them controlled by the mouse.

Final version for tonight

I'm going to go to bed now for school tomorrow. I added the rulebook. To open it you just press the right key. Press the left key to close it. I also added the stamp which will have an input on the handle of it where you can put in the grade you wish to put on the test.

I still have alot of things to finish though, but since I really like this project; i'm gonna stick with it. So expect the BETA to be out by tomorrow, if not; the day after.

Also just for people who don't know how to view the test: When the student places the paper on the teacher's desk, click that.
