Author Topic: Is it worth the money to buy a PS3 just to play GT5?  (Read 1217 times)

Nope, GT5 was a bit of a disappointment.

You couldn't figure out if it was worth it to spend $200 on a console just to play one $20 game?

lol

GT5 isn't worth it alone, but if you consider all the other PS3 exclusives (Uncharted, Infamous, Metal Gear Solid, Little Big Planet) buying one on sale would be worth it.

How did It fail?

I rented GT5 twice, it's a lot of fun,I love the carreer, the handling of the cars and the ammount of vehicles on it, but yeah, if you will get a PS3, you might as well get the LBP series, uncharted, Modnation Racers and other great games

I bought the PS3 so I can get some of the exclusives such as the Metal Gear Solid series and Little Big Planet. It's quite worth it.

i thought this said gta5, what the hell i was about to say no
but like, if you JUST play GT5 then probably not
but if you play other stuff
such as the Metal Gear Solid series and Little Big Planet
then it'll probably be worth it, yes

How did It fail?
Horrible physics, only certain cars get 1st person view, too much unneeded cars, etc.

How did It fail?
Too long for too little.  I haven't played it recently, but the ui was awful and confusing, cars didn't all look nice, with some looking like straight ports from the PS2 game.  They hyped up the car count too much, when they really should have took their time to model fewer ones more accurately.  The physics were decent, but not the best.  The ai is not very good, they like to ram into you.  I think Polyphony is starting to suffer from the issues Id had.  Their games were great, but now they come too slow and aren't good enough to warrant the wait.

While I'm saying all these negative things about the game, I still liked it.  I wouldn't say it justifies the purchase of a PS3 though, if you are still considering it, I'd suggest the Motorstorm series and the Uncharted series in addition to GT5.

Not at all, that's like buying a printer just because it looks cool.

hes asking if he should buy a system for a game he'd like to play
the only thing relatable (chrome i think thats a word) is that hes purchasing something
