Using Google is an AWFUL replacement.

I disabled it because it slows the forum down to a crawl.  I have tried tons of things with the database but I just can't get it to work reliably.  There are other search solutions like sphinx that I might look into but I can't put anymore effort into this right now.

If you need to find something, google will usually get you there.  The forum is well indexed.  

I don't really understand, how come it was working fine before but now it isnt? This may be helpful but I noticed that when you migrated the server the Apache Web Server version was lower than what it used to be (maybe the newer version had some more optimization for php files?). Then again you said something with the database (so most likely not Apache and I don't know what that is.)

You can't search specific sections of the forums anymore, help sections are now useless. Not much more too it.
