Age of Blockland?

Author Topic: Age of Blockland?  (Read 2500 times)

Well since AoT is pretty much dead, why not make a server in Blockland just like AoT and include the guis and client scripts in an update to Blockland?

its not porting... -_- lemme rephrase this: I'm asking Badspot to make something like Age of Time but its a Blockland server.

And no, I wouldn't like that mixture.

I would like to be a lego in age of time

You people have to learn what porting is and what making a loving Age of Time Blockland thing from scratch is.

He's asking for an RPG mod in the style of AoT, which is wholly possible through safe zones and checkpoints along with a cash system.

Having mots for monsters might be awkward, although at any given time you need at most 2x the number of players.  Maybe it's 3x, usually it's never that high.

The crafting system wouldn't work out, at least not yet.  From my rudimentary knowledge you would need another datablock for every possible variation(that changes properties).

Inventory ststem would have to be coded, though that would just be an array.

No idea what to do for materials, other than making them be bricks?  Or hunks of plastic, of course.

Thank you for explaning my post.  :cookieMonster:

One problem of RPGs is the interface-

/cmds are good for small mods, bad when you have to use ten to do anything. (Aloshi's RPG for instance)
GUIs are good for mods which only a host should use and not as useful in other situations. (AoT and RTB avoided this be being the only game/most common version of the game, one of the problems with Portals/Doors/etc JVS mods is that they require a GUI and can break compatability)
Special Wands or Guns are good when you need to set lots of specific bricks to a property but can get annoying when it doesn't save or when you have to get ten different wands just to hold all of the random properties to put on bricks. (Hammer, Wrench, Printer, Wand, Decollisioner, Team Set Gun, Door Maker, Scale Changer, ...) They aren't too useful in RPGs either.
Specialised bricks are useful, but sometimes need BLBs downloaded or can't fit a certain area - "I need a 64x64 hookshottable area, wait, it's only in 1x1F and 4x4 bricks...".

That's exactly why I stopped working on it and why most RPGs in BL STINK. We really need a GUI downloader. :panda:

Make that "GUIs, keybinds and SAFE, CHECKED command executing" - downloader.

Iban's RPG mod has a wierd pop-up window GUI that doesn't need to be downloaded, perhaps the mod could be run using /cmds that could be found in a /help menu, or through the GUIs that you can DL from the forums.

well i was thinking maybe Badspot (since he made AoT) will make everything and have it in an update

Why would he.  It wouldn't be the same thing anyway.  Just an RPG mod.

hey i just thought of a good thing for the gui, just be like RoB and say where to DL, but then noobs will just not know how to get it and be in the server doing nothing
