Author Topic: My pet peeve: "I don't believe in x"  (Read 718 times)

obviously, if you're talking about religion or something, saying you don't believe in god or whatever is fine

but saying something like you "don't believe in paying more than $15" for something? that just seems ugh
like, it's not wrong. the actual definition of "believe" includes this type of thing
I just can't stand people saying stuff like that, it seems really ridiculous
dunno why

also, same thing goes for saying that you do believe in whatever

I don't believe in your opinion.

I don't believe it's a problem.

i want to find the forgeter who came up with the word "pet peeve" and sodomize him with a splintered broom handle

another pet peeve of mine is when people call things that are more than one word "words"

if i were to look up "pet peeve" in the dictionary it would have its own definition
so

plus wtf is a peeve

peeve = annoy

Pet annoy?
Doesn't quite work when you get down to it. Unless pet has another meaning.

I didn't say peeve and annoy were interchangeable in the phrase.

"i don't believe in global warming."

those people annoy me the most

apparently pet has some archaic meaning linking "to take offense" but apparently relevant to pet, as in a companion.
