Don't feel bad. Odds are if it's a street cat it's a little tougher than most. It's coat will take some of the impact, and everything else will kinda just be a "me-owch" moment. Cat won't die so long as you don't aim for the face or back door.
Bonus points +50 if you hit cat balls in the process.

I have a $50 one and I never had it pierce skin. And yes, it is a pump.
I also don't pump it 10-20 times before firing, 2 is good enough for a pesky animal.

Now of course I don't know how laws are where you are but I could actually legally shoot another animal if its on my property.

You act like you later go check to see if the pellet pierced. Ofcourse it did, you just shot a small metal object at high speeds at a squishy animal. wtf do you think will happen, it'll bounce off?

Either sack the cat, trap it under a basket or cage, or punt it in the chest.

Or catch it, beat the stuff out of it and throw it at the ground so it runs away. Aim for the head, there's not much internal organs and they're protected.
