For now anyway. I'm sure we're going to get further fuss over this.

Thoughts?

The problem is that it's not going to stop it from happening. I think its a good thing. People have a right and they will exercise it.

I have to admit I thought that too. But sounded doesn't mean "is".

I bet you can get it from the pirate bay in 5 minutes.
Completly legal, btw.

I never understood the deal with the PirateBay, why are they so hard to take down?

I don't think people have a right to make guns at all.

And even ignoring the debate that will honestly start up, about the US constitution and your right to bear arms, it's not a good thing that these can be out there internationally.

There are other countries in the world that do not have any laws or anything in their constitution to own or purchase guns.
And if all it takes is for someone to buy a legal 3D printer and they can then make an illegal deadly weapon, then that's obviously wrong. Especially if they can do it without any legal checks or certificates, and these guns can then be taken into places of high security without being detected, like onto planes, or government buildings, or schools and hospitals.

Arguing that it's inevitable that guns will eventually become accessible by most people does not mean at all that it should be a goal that people should work towards, nor that it should be ignored.

To overregulate is not a good thing. I think for when something bad happens, people should have something to fall back on when other things start to fail. Which is how I view this weapon. The gun this plastic model was based off of during ww2 was put in airdrops over france during the time Germany was occupying it. it wasn't the best weapon, but it was something you could defend yourself with. I look at this as good in the name of self defence. Which everyone has a right to. When a tyrannical government begins to rise, they will try and confiscate if not destroy any ways to fight back. This is also why I think its good for other countries as well.

I don't personally see the United Kingdom suddenly undergoing a tyrannical change to it's government and the whole country having all forms of weaponry removed and the people being subjugated by force.

And I do not see that happening in the United States of America.
Nor in any other First World Countries any time soon.

It's a completely paranoid reason, to suggest it's for self-defence.
In first world countries, the only places people will be in fear of a dictatorship or tyranny taking over are the same locations where they will never have access to 3D printers.
This is of no help to those people.
It is just a massive security risk in these countries, like the US and the UK, where it is unneeded. Unless the national socialist's happen to take over all of a sudden, and the armies were all so proud of just up and disappear.

just go torrent the zip file that is everywhere.
its legal and available

This isn't the first time he had his 3D gun print taken down. If you saw his video, you'd know he did the same thing on Shapeways and it was removed.
