Author Topic: Summer of Bisjac  (Read 19379 times)

Of course his summer-long party will cost money.
But it's not going to cost him 5 million dollars. (If it did, I'd love to see videos).

He honestly has enough money to live happily from now on.
He can have a great time this summer and barely dent what he has.
Being jumpy here, let's just imagine he spends 1 million dollars this summer. He'd still have 4 million left to live on.
That is very very feasible.

Sure, I'd probably put some money in a Cash ISA or whatnot, where it can earn a bit of interest, but he doesn't need to. He still has his fridges full of Gold and Silver incase money ever becomes an issue again.

He has no need to work.
If he really wanted to, he could do so, I'm sure.
But bear in mind that Bisjac earnt this money from stock-trading. It took him a long time, and he only made so much money because he cashed it all in at once.
He didn't earn it through working a job. He has no need to work at a job any more.

If he wants to reinvest in stocks again, I'm sure he could. But if he reckons he has no need to, which I don't doubt, then there is no reason for him to do so.

Suggesting that he goes back to work, or starts stock-trading again is no better an idea than suggesting he happily retires. It is literally down to whatever Bisjac feels happiest with. And so far, he's suggested that he's happiest in having a fun Summer and then retiring.

You just said that if he spent 1 million, he would have 4 million left to live on. It's not like this is a one-time thing, he'll do more summers like this, and if he spent 1mil in one summer when he has possibly 50+ more years to live, it doesn't seem like it will last.

I'm not saying that he should go back to work or that he's an idiot, I'm just saying that it might have not been the best idea long-term.

I like how you handicaps think he's just going to spend 5.2 million dollars just like that. He retired. You know what that means? That means he has enough money to suffice any bills or luxuries for life. If he is frivolous about spending, he will have to work again because he would've squandered his money, but Bisjac is intelligent and probably wouldn't do that.

tl;dr he is not going to spend all 5.2 mil like that you fruits. he has to use that money to last him a lifetime.

This
Not to mention, he still has his pirate's booty of gold and silver.

Or, he cashed that out. You do realize gold is an investment?

Stop by Louisville and you'll be in a 20 miles range of me.

He said he has it.

Don't argue with dooble

It makes you look like an starfish, in addition to you looking like a dumbass for being wrong

did you read the whole thread

I didn't even begin the argument. I just stated my opinion on the matter.

The point I'm trying to make is that if he blows 1mil on one summer when he most likely has 30+ more summers to live, 5mil wont last.
It's stupid to think that just because someone is a respected forum member that they're always right. He has some good points, but everyone is thinking that I'm trying to imply that Bisjac shouldn't have fun and just go back to working full time.
That's untrue on so many levels.

If he spent 50k on this trip, that would leave him with plenty to spend later on, but saying that if he spent 1million dollars every time he wanted to do this and STILL have money left over is ridiculous.
Bisjac can quit working whenever he'd like, but I'm saying that if I was him, I would continue working until I was at least 40-45. By then he could have easily racked up around 15mil. This all depends on the job he has, but since he claims he's owned 2 businesses for 10 years, that wouldn't be hard to do for him.

I love hearing when people have been successful like Bisjac, but I'm just saying what I would do.

Look. He's happy with the money he has. He knows how to make money, and he knows how to not spend it. Being a day trader is extremely demanding, because even though you can make thousands of dollars a day, you have to be constantly trading and searching for stocks to buy/sell, for the duration of the market being open every day.

(And then lose double to amount of money you received when the stock market thinks Obama died.)

Why is everyone judging how Bisjac spends his money? It's his money. not yours. He can do what ever he wants with it and he doesn't need anyone to criticize or question how he spends it. When you make $5m, then you can decide how you want to spend it.

go to ireland and buy a round of drinks for everyone

Last sentence is bad. When someone makes any amount of money they can decide how they want to spend it.

I'm not judging him; it's just what I would do.
I'm extremely happy that he's managed to make so much money.
But since I'm tired of arguing over it, I've made my point, and I'll just move on.

I appreciate you defending me, but please don't tell people not to argue with me.
I don't want people to be afraid to argue or debate with me. I'm wrong as often as I'm ever right. It's all a learning experience.

The point I'm trying to make is that if he blows 1mil on one summer when he most likely has 30+ more summers to live, 5mil wont last...

I do get your point, and I understand it.
It's just, I don't know where the argument that he's going to spend 1 million every summer is coming from.

Bisjac cashed in his stock investments so that he could enjoy one great big summer.
Since he knows this won't be his last summer (and I'm really happy that's true), he's changed his plan from just having one final party to retiring.
He's still going to have a party, but I don't think he'll spend all of his money if he's planning on living into retirement.

And I don't think he'll go spending the same amount, or anywhere near that much every Summer or anytime he wants a bit of fun.
If he's managed to work the stock exchange, I'm sure his mathematical skills are good enough for him to know he can't spend 1million dollars every year, when he has 5 and he's got possibly 50+ years left to live.

And finally, you're entirely right that it is down to opinion.
Bisjac obviously doesn't want to work more, so he shouldn't.
And if you were him, you would work more. And you should.

It doesn't matter how Bisjac spends his money, or if he ever plans to work again. It's entirely personal preference.

Sorry for arguing so much over it all, and sorry for hijacking the topic, when it should just be about congratulating Bisjac on retirement and wishing him a good summer.
