This argument doesn't hold water. Nowadays, with modern tech and weapons (Drones, etc.) there'd be no way the populace would avoid that. The US military could take whatever they please, you think a couple thousand people with AR-15s would stop them?
Listen here, liberal.
Nobody has a helicopter parked in their garage, this is true. Yes, a drone strike would wipe out any rebel squad with AR-15s, this is also true.
But do you know what you need to operate all of those weapons? You need people. You need manpower. Do you know how you control a nation? You don't sit a tank on the corner of every street, you don't patrol with jets. You need people to act as officers. And if you start dropping bombs and drones on rebels in neighborhoods where innocents live as well as rebels, you piss off your people. And when you piss off your people, they refuse to work for you, and when your people refuse to work for you, you have dug a much greater hole than you could ever imagine.
The people are what give any power any legitimacy, and if an armed populace accepts your laws, then you are seen as much more legitimate than the alternative.
