And you know what be nice? If we could all just sit down and have a talk about politics and such, without guns, or drones, or nukes. We could all just be civil and trusting, rather than pointing a gun. And you know, if you believe the government is your enemy, then you're just silly. This a republic, the government is the people, and you are to. So fighting the government, and those in power, is fighting yourself and the nations interests.

'Merica, Hells yeah
Actually, now that conservatives have gotten their way this republic is no longer of the people. It's of the corporation, the CEO's, the bankers, the wealthy. Those who can pay to amplify their voice above the rest.

So, perhaps we should use those guns against the real enemy.

That is what they're supposed to do, and they do it. But if you have a rebellion with any significant weight, then you have defectors within the military, and if you start bombing your own cities and have innocent casualties, then people start realizing your regime is insane. And then they join the rebels.
Oh, didn't know we had a regime now.

You have a pretty crappy view of the world if you think a large portion of the military would kill American citizens.

You make it sound like the government isn't doing anything wrong.

The system is flawed, yes. But it could be fixed, there needs to be a way to make political power and money be separate identities, so that the rich can't buy power. We also need a bigger, stronger middle class.

The government is no longer working in the people's interest. It's become a popularity contest between two equally disappointing parties. This is what all republics lead to. Corruption, greed, and instability. Like communism, republics work well on paper but in reality, they go to stuff. Nothing is ever going to be perfect, but there are better choices than the current popular system.

i'm really confused what side you're on here

You don't just pull a middle class out of your ass.

You grow it from a strong economy that nurtures success in such a way that companies can't stockpile trillions of dollars as a whole.

Rising up still seems viable.

Republics are the best government in existence, but I'm curious about your "better choices".

It's pretty obvious.

Oh, didn't know we had a regime now.

You have a pretty crappy view of the world if you think a large portion of the military would kill American citizens.

That's what 'm saying. They wouldn't kill American citizens, which is why they would defect to the rebels or just outright quit when you start ordering them to bomb cities.

You make it sound like the government isn't doing anything wrong.
They are, they are. But my point is that the people shouldn't fight them, they should embrace the system and work to improve it. Making the government your enemy only leads to anarchy.

Do you even know how the USA was formed? By fighting the government. You think the king would have just let us break off if we sent him an angry letter? No, we had to fight the government.

That is the most idiotic response to this argument ever.

Do you know why the nation was founded? For political freedom.

What do we have with a republic? Political Freedom.

What took away our political freedom? No guns. Catering to wealth.

That was the British, not our own nation. Besides, times change. Violence was the only option then, but just because it was doesn't mean it has to be now. Destroying the government would lead to anarchy, and a crappy government is better than none at all.

This all the way. Greed and corruption, not gun rights, should be the issue of our time.

Our government isn't loving crappy. Anyone who says so is ignorant as forget.

Bureaucracy in any form is slower moving than society is, and it will always be. Things are being done, things have been done, and things will continue to be done.

That was the British, not our own nation.
We were the British.
