"WOAH WOAH WOAH! WHAT'S THE DEAL HERE?! WE'RE LEAVING, WE'RE INNOCENT, WHERE'S MY LAWYER?!"
"CAPTAIN, CAPTAIN CALM DOWN!"
"WE'RE OUTNUMBERED, OUTGUNNED, AND THEY PROBABLY THINK WE'RE GUILTY!" I hiss under my breath.
"We need to stay calm! It's probably a big misunderstanding!"
"There is a DEADLY VIRUS going around! We may be who they think released it, and now we're leaving before we infect ourselves!"
"Oh."
"Yeah."

We need to find out how many came.  Send another scout.  It's vital that these pirates are exterminated before they become too much of a problem.

I slam my fists down on my desk.

"GOD DAMMIT." I yell, "Even when I try to make peace, I cant!"

My second in command approaches me, "It's okay, sir. Give it a few days, things will clear up."

I cough. "No. It wont."

"You can't be so negative. You're the only one with access to the food reserves. Eventually, they will have to look towards you."

"Or they will just kill me and take the food for themselves."

"Its a possibility. Try not to be so pessimistic."

I stand up and look out my window. Things have calmed down. The ISF have done a good job cleaning up the city. I suddenly feel drowsy, and go to my room to sleep. As I leave my office, I tell my first in command to get a report from the researchers.

ISF

Your men swarm the various locations of the colony. They head straight for the AFR command after inquiring from the local security to just where it is. They are let in and proceed to detain the AFR command and extract. Will AFR command persist from being detained and quarantined remains to be seen.

As for the researchers, they simply won't open up. It seems a forced entry is needed.
There are no safe locations currently on the colonial perimeter. You will have to deal with the danger and subdue it.
The fires and the blacksmoke is scaring away the predators, the turrets had stopped firing. But it is also keeping the mutants in and the colonists. However, the killing did not stop. The mutants leap from house to house and kill or be killed.

NFSC

One of the ISF squad leaders steps trough and yells out commands.

"YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THIS PLANET! IF YOU LEAVE! YOU WILL BE SHOT! THERE IS A LARGE ORBITING FLEET AROUND THE PLANET! YOU ARE TO STAY HERE UNTIL TOLD OTHERWISE! YOU WILL BE PROTECTED!"

Wolf Company

Your luck ran out. They deployed some sort of field which forces your scout to uncloak. Within seconds he is caught by surprise of this field and is torn to shreds.

-1 Scout Heron.

The administration contacts you and says they have a solution.
They ask you to come to the administration meeting room for an emergency meeting.

AFR

You find yourself and your men being told to follow the ISF troops out to be, evacuated, quarantined and protected.

"Alright. Have some men secure a perimeter around the research facility and cordon it off. Breaching of the facility will be handled by a team of specialists which will be deployed from the fleet.

In the meantime, get AFR security or command to send us the blueprints of the facility and then have them relayed to myself and the team's operational commander. Once they've finished their planning and arrived on scene, patch me through to them and tell them to stand by for entry - I will relay their orders personally.

Regarding the rest of the ground troopers, they are to complete their remaining objectives. Send AFR security to deal with the fires and prepare to neutralize the dissidents and mutants as they emerge. Should you be able to locate the dissident ringleaders, try to take them alive so that they may be made an example of when peace has been restored. Once the smoke clears, our eye in the sky will be able to provide you with better intel, as well. Remember to inform your NCOs they are authorized to call in further reinforcements or support from the fleet. I am handing full control of the clean-up operation to you while I coordinate the facility's raid, major. I know you will not disappoint me. Good luck."

The connection is once again terminated.

"Ensign, have a response team readied and sent down to those coordinates, ASAP. Dismissed."

God damnit my scout.

Head to the emergency meeting.

"Any report from the researchers yet?"

ISF

It seems your major ordered a squad of scouts to go to the mine. But all that was relayed back is.

"THIS IS NOVA SQUAD; NEED AIRSTR- *static* AT *static* -RID 056-784. DO YOU COPY?! *Background shouting and firing*"

At the end a faint scream is heard and you could have sworn you heard a roar of some sort.

Further more your men secure the permiter around the research facility. Nothing can be seen inside the place is on full lockdown. Sadly there are no blueprints of the facility. They were never made, nor were they needed. The construction was done quickly and it was simply builded upon. The command embarasingly admits that they can not help you.

A group of specialists, per your order, arrive and prepare to breach. They brown townyze from the exterior for some time. At the end they conclude a forceful entry is needed and that everything is to be expected. Using explosives as a surprise would be best and then should be followed by a flashbang, smoke grenade or other.

The fighting resurfaces as you send the AFR security to deal with many of the emerging mutants. Your forces find themselves battling a new enemy. Outside the permieter there is heavy shooting. The turrets go live and begin to fire at the incoming threats. These are no humanoid enemies, there are mutants of sort, but you have no idea what sort. Your APC rolls out of the colony, sets up and begins to send death towards the newly formed threat.

The wave of new enemies is coming from the mines. One of your soldiers in great detail describes the mutants once he managed to escape. He is uncertain what happened. The very sight of them made him run. He tells of great numbers, vicious unforgiveness. He states how your men had to load armor piercing ammo to kill some of the mutants. You have no idea what are your losses. Your crew questions the man in detail and one of them draws that very detail upon paper.

Wolf Company

As you arrive, they all nod respectfully. They immidieatly tell you of their plan to deliver a nuclear bomb into the heart of the base. But the meeting is rudely interupted by the pirates themselves, they are attacking. Your forces are engaging them and the station missile defenses are firing. The battle came to you, instead of you, taking the battle to them. The station shield comes on so your orbiting fleet is defended. For a time. You have a choice. Stay and fight, or run away in the coverage of the shield.

AFR

"There are no reports from the researchers, we are working on it. Now come with us. We have ordered to escort you."
And so it is that you are escorted along with your men to a secure location. You notice they are quarantining you aswell.

"stuff. Overlord to squadrons Alpha through Bravo, prepare to deploy an aerial strike at grid 056-784. Sweep the area for any surviving ISF troops before commencing bombardment. If you locate any, do everything in your power to keep the mutants off them and provide them with emergency extraction - I do not give a flying forget about their equipment, save my men. If you can locate none, commence bombardment and take that stuff-hive off the map. Overlord out."

The transmission's frequency is switched to that of the response team's.

"Breach when ready but make sure to minimize damage to the facility. Deploy smoke, move in with thermals, neutralize anything that fails to surrender immediately. Keep me posted, and be careful."

The transmission is once again adjusted, this time to the general frequency of the rest of the ground troops.

"Attention all ground forces currently engaged in cleanup. Protect the colony perimeter from this threat at all costs, you are cleared to deploy any weapons available in our arsenal to achieve that. Pull the APC back into the colony and do your best to keep it firing and intact. If any side of the perimeter is overwhelmed, fall back to the research facility, defend its surroundings until the response team is finished with its operation, then prepare for emergency extraction. Major, have that survivor brought to the fleet, quarantined and placed under psychological supervision. He is relieved of all duties for the entire week. Command out."

Stay and fight.  Use the heavier weapons to target the larger ships defensive mechanisms and weapons, while the smaller weapons engage the smaller ships and interceptors/drones if any, and defend the larger ships.  The station's ships and weapons should provide adequate support against the larger fleet.

Turn to the station administrators, "Do you have any repair drones aboard this station?"

If Yes:  Have them deployed to repair ships mid-battle if need be.

If No:  Curse silently to yourself and continue commanding the fight.

ISF

Scorpion Pilot: "Sir. I'm picking up readings. Lots of readings. Unknown signatures. What the...cyno fields, EVERYWHERE!"
Scorpion Co-Pilot: "Oh my god..."

As you focus your attention towards what they are saying and then look out the window of your Scorpion you notice thousands or tens of thousands fields or more. All flashing in bright lights. From them emerge black, darkned objects, the same you saw back in the previous system you were in. The skies of the colony darkness with their very presence. Milions of ships appearing out of no where.

Raven 1-1: "HOLY stuff! HOOOOOLY loving stuff!"
Raven 1-2: "GET IT TOGETHER! ORDERS?! WE NEED SOME loving ORDERS!"

Moa 1-3: "LETS GET THE forget OUT OF HERE!"
Moa 1-2: "STAND YOUR GOD DAMN GROUND!"
Moa 1-4: "forget THAT MAN! LOOK AT THOSE NUMBERS!"

Hookbill 1-1: "SHUT UP YOU COWARDS!"
Hookbill 1-2: "YOU'RE A GOD DAMN LUNATIC IF YOU THINK STAYING HERE IS A GOOD loving IDEA!"
Hookbill 1-5: "WHAT ARE YOUR ORDERS SIR?!"

You recieve a message in binary code.

"01001000 01110101 01101101 01100001 01101110 01101111 01101001 01100100 01110011 00101110 00100000 01000100 01101111 00100000 01101110 01101111 01110100 00100000 01101001 01101110 01110100 01100101 01110010 01100110 01100101 01110010 01100101 00101110 00100000 01010111 01100101 00100000 01110111 01101001 01101100 01101100 00100000 01100100 01101111 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100011 01110010 01100101 01100001 01110100 01101111 01110010 01110011 00100000 01110111 01101111 01110010 01101011 00101110 00100000 01000001 01101110 01111001 00100000 01101000 01101111 01110011 01110100 01101001 01101100 01101001 01110100 01111001 00100000 01110111 01101001 01101100 01101100 00100000 01100010 01100101 00100000 01101101 01100101 01110100 00100000 01110111 01101001 01110100 01101000 00100000 01110011 01100101 01110110 01100101 01110010 01100101 00100000 01100011 01101111 01101110 01110011 01100101 01110001 01110101 01100101 01101110 01100011 01100101 01110011 00101110"

Several capital size ships appear on the field. They are launching something at the planet. The ground troop comms begin to respond. All fighting stops. Even the mutants, the predators, the infected, everyone looks up at the sky. The dark that approaches. An apocalyptic event. From the skies rain objects. Objects of great scale and size. They impact upon the ground. Avoiding any human forces or objects.

Nova squad: "THE MUTANTS! THEY STOPPED ATTACKING! RUN TO THE COLONY!"
Alpha squad: "What in the god name is that..."
Bravo squad: "MAJOR! LOOK OUT YOUR DAMN WINDOW! WE NEED ORDERS!"
Major: "I don't...know what to...my god..."
Delta Squad:"THE END OF DAYS MAN! GAME OVER MAN! END OF THE LINE!"

As they land and impact the ground. Your troops soon enough realize these are pods. They open up and release robotical constructs. These robotical constructs begin to build infrastructure at great speed. Some drop pods fall down onto the planet bearing various resources. The smaller constructs begin to use those resources. Building some sort of tower. The perimeter, the whole area is being showered with these pods. All coming from the unknown capital size ships.

Then the smaller pods stop falling. Before you know it. Large ones begin falling causing earthquakes of small scale. The birds have left the area. The predators ran off to their caves. The mutants of the colony hide or run. Your troops stare confused.

From the large pods emerge larger constructs. Bearing heavy weapons. With them come the smaller ones, but these kind of smaller ones are infantrylike. They begin converging on the mine. Before you know it. The ground shakes once more. A great beast emerges from the ground.

It roars in all its glory and the smaller mutants come to its aid. They begin to attack your forces. But your forces find themselves shielded by the robotical constructs. The capital ship turret, overly huge, you can even see it from your window. It aims down at the planet and fires a shot. The glory of the beast is reduced to nothing but ashes.

A swarm of smaller robotical constructs begins making it's way towards the mine. A clean up operation begins from what you can tell or your eyes on the colony which would be the soldiers.

It seems the robotical constructs have set up a base of operations, far larger than the colony it self. The base is literally being built around the colony. Soon enough as your troops observe, the largest tower build produces a sort of shield. The smoke clears away, the spore like particales that flote trough the air are purged by the shield as it emminates with energy clueless to you. A large wall is errected around the base, for protection.

Smaller squads are sent into the colony, ignoring non infected personel. They begin to breach and clear houses at random. Probably using termal vision. Screaming of aliens, the infected is heard. Your troops are confused as to what is happening to the infected , those who have not fully mutated, the constructs are doing something to them.

Finally. The constructs approach the research facility before you can do anything. One of the bulkier ones, breaks down the door and heads in what seems to be an arm mounted flamethrower. As it enters it pauses observing. It seems confused.

Wolf Company

At first, it seemed they outnumber you. But as the stations defensive turrets make short work of the frigates. Your fleet realizes that perhaps they can win this. However. You read a nuclear launch. The administration loaded up the nuke into one of the launchers and fired it at the pirate battleship.

Hawk Pilot: "WHAT THE forget?! WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUC- *static*"

It explodes outside the radius of the shield. As it does so. The shield dies and your ships are shaken. One of your frigates crashes into the station due to the blast. Some of them begin to melt and try to land, making a mess of the station docks. Your ships shields die instantly. Most ships have weapon issues. Only your Rokh stands. Unshaken.

The communications go down.

"forget this. All ground troops, put your weapons away and fall back to the landing zone. Do not get in their way, do not even look at them the wrong way. Alpha and Bravo, power down your weapons, pick up our men and re-enter formation with Echo 1. All qualified personnel aboard Echo 1 are to focus on decoding that message. Don't bother trying to attack or escape, they'd be able to catch up easily if they wanted to. Command out."
« Last Edit: May 23, 2013, 07:35:39 AM by Deathfries »

Your men begin to evacuate. The robotical constructs ignore you and your men. They say nothing. Only focusing on their work. The civilians of the colony begin to complain, shout.

"YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE US HERE!"

But your men don't look back. They are just glad to be out of there. Most run in a hurried manner. Before you know it. Your fleet is ready, in orbit. The robotical fleets ignore you. Orbiting around the planet. Building some infrastructure in orbit aswell.

Your men decode the message using a binary translator:

The pilot reads it out for you:

"Humanoids. Do not interfere. We will do the creators work. Any hostility will be met with severe consequences."

"Jesus forget, holy stuff. Jenkins, I need another coffee, good Lord."

"Overlord to fleet. Set course for the nearest system, but do not move out yet. Keep all weapons powered down and keep your "eyes" open, I want to know everything that's going on. Translate any further transmissions that you receive. We're not leaving until we're sure there's no longer any chance of saving this settlement."

"Major, have your officers do a post-deployment headcount and gear check. I want to know how many men are MIA/KIA, and whether the surviving forces made it out with all of their equipment intact. Have it all sterilized. All survivors are to wear protective gear at all times and report for medical and psychological examination - this includes you. Those that have no signs of infection or post-deployment trauma are free to return to their quarters and remove their protective gear. You have the rest of the day off after your examination. Good work down there, Major."

ISF

Jenkins: "Yes sir. Coffee right away sir."

Raven 1-1: "Copy fleet command, aligning to the furthest planet in the system."
Raven 1-2: "Copy overlord."

Moa 1-1: "Moa assault group aligning."
Hookbill 1-1: "Acknowledged. Squadron aligning to planet five."

There seem to be some severly wounded. The heavy fighting was cut short by the robotical constructs.
It is all a matter of saving their lives now. You conclude you didn't have any loses as much as it is unbelivable it is true.
Your mens gear is sterilized. About one hundred men are sent to the medical wing for medical and psychological treatment.

AFR

HINT: Read the long previous ISF related post.

By nightfall. The screaming, the fighthing, everything, had stopped. You find your self unprotected. ISF is long gone from the planet. Everything is calm. All that can be heard in the distance is humming of machinery. The robots are still there. Some of them patrol the streets of the colony.

A girl on the outskirts of the colony runs. Being chased by one of the mutants who had escaped into the forest it self. The robotical construct shields the girl and tears the mutant apart. Obliterating it and stomping it. Afterwards it purges the body and sterilizes it self. Putting the girl on its shoulder and delivering to the colony. The girl points out its mother and the robotical construct delivers. Only to retreat where it came from.

As you witness such an act you look around and see your colony at peace. Finally. It is all over. The shield above you protects you. There are no more spores. No more mutants, no more danger. The people are still insecure. But your security comes to you and gets you out of the quarantine.

Your people gather in the colonial square and look up to you for leadership.
You find your self being escorted to that very place. They expect a speach, a promise, an explenation to what happened.
They are all confused, uneasy, afraid.

You recieve a report that none of your researchers are to be found.
The infected but not mutated were draged off by the constructs.
Any spore clusters which formed around the buildings were purged.
The buildings destroyed and then rebuilit with new materials.

The road to the mine was constructed within an hour. You have a pretty good view to the mine.
You still see something is going on there. Sparks of sort, perhaps flames. You're unsure.
But one thing is certain. You, your colony, your people were saved by these robots.
People now look up to you, they ask, what is your next move?
What do we do?

You don't feel too good. But the constructs ignore you. Could it be you were never infected in the first place?
You conclude it is the stress and perhaps you caught a cold. But you seem to be getting better as you notice the colony is finally at peace.

NFSC

HINT: Read previous ISF related long post.

As you find your self in the middle of all this. Some of your men are forcefully draged off by the constructs. It seems you were never infected. It is those who caughed that were draged off. It is those who vomited, that were draged off.
A small detachment sterilizes your ship completely. Soon enough, without a word they leave. You can't help but stare at all that is happening cluelessly.
