I hear news of the ISF landing on Nova once again. I decide to see what they know about the robots.

"This is Captain Nova of the AFR. I heard word that you landed back on this planet. I was to converse, if that wouldn't be an issue."

ISF

Your men make their way to the market.

Meat merchant: "Fresh meat! Caught this morning!"
Vegetable & Fruit Merchant: "Try out these harmless vegetables and fruits! Some of them helped people during the infection! 100% safe!"
Water merchant: "Bottled water! Boiled and poured this morning!"

Upon inspecting the prices you recieve a message from your men.

40 ISK per 1 kilo of predator meat. - Six kilos available.
80 ISK per 1 kilo of herbivore meat. - Twenty kilos available.
20 ISK per 1 kilo of vermin meat. - Two kilos available.

Upon vegetable and fruit prices inspection you recieve the following.

100 ISK per 1 kilo of unknown type of a vegetable. - Available five kilos. - Merchant says it makes people happier.
200 ISK per 1 kilo of unknown type of fruit. - Available twenty kilos. - Merchant says this one boosts immune system, helped people during the infection he says.
10 ISK per 1 kilo of potato grown on the soil of this colony. - Available fifty kilos. - The potato looks certainly larger than the ones on Earth.
15 ISK per 1 kilos of strawberries grown on the soil of the colony. - Available thirty kilos. - The strawberry is, purple? Merchant says its harmless.

Upon inspection of the water merchants prices. He says he sells water 20 ISK per bottle. The bottles have 1 liter each.
Currently he has a large batch available. He says he will be trying to make soda soon out of the available fruit.

Your men say they will have to take some time in order to track down herds, predatorial caves and vermin nests.
They are saying that they didn't find a water source nearby. Scans from the orbit fail to find a nearby water source. There must be a hidden one nearby.

"Purchase a small sample of everything and send it to the fleet for testing. If it proves to be safe, buy everything. And give those merchants some extra money, tell them it's for their families. I want you to ask around about the water source, as well. Discreetly. Propaganda team is to continue with the recruitment efforts and give me a report on that."

A transmission is sent to AFR command in response.

"Good morning, captain. How may I be of assistance?"

"I know you left the planet a few days ago. Im not sure why you abandoned us, and frankly, I dont care. But, as you can see, the robots that saved us are still here, and expanding fast.

"Im curious, do you have any idea on how to contact these beings?"

"'Abandoned' you? How dare you accuse us of such things? We almost lost an entire squad defending your people from a swarm of goddamned mutants, son, to the very last minute until those things arrived. I have five men struggling to stay alive. If they die, they die because they fought to protect your colony and your citizens when you could not or would not do so."

"I apologize for my poor language. But, still you have not answered my question. Do you have any idea how we can contact these beings?"

"Very well. Apology accepted. You may try to have your men convert a message to binary and transmit it to their capital ship."

The ISF-AFR transmission is momentarily placed on hold.

"My curiosity be damned, but I'd like to know what they try to tell them, if anything. See if you can intercept and translate it. We have to look out for ourselves."

"Well, I'll be damned. I'm surprised we never thought of doing that! The AFR thanks you for your help."

I close the transmission and call over my second in command.

"Yes, sir?"
"Have we tried to send any messages using binary?"
"Well, no, sir."
"Well try it. Convert this message to binary and send it off;

'This is Captain Nova of the AFR, official leader of the colony that you helped save. We appreciate your assistance, and we hope to perhaps make you an ally in the future. Please reply soon.'"
"Can do, sir."

"Have we tried to send any messages using binary?"

Read. Read. Read. Read my pooooooooooooooooooooooosts. Oh babyyyyyyy.

Quote from: Dug
They return to you and state they should try binary code, they should somehow try and converse with them, by texting. If only they had a source to send it to.

Why don't we just pretend that my character is handicapped?

Inform the station of the victory, inspect the status of the third station and compare to the first, to see which is better in terms of defenses, space, and mod-ability to suit the needs of the fleet.

AFR

As your second in command converts his message into binary code and sends it out...
You recieve a message back almost instantly.

"01010111 01100101 00100000 01100100 01101111 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01100011 01110010 01100101 01100001 01110100 01101111 01110010 01110011 00100000 01110111 01101111 01110010 01101011 00101110 00100000 01010111 01100101 00100000 01110100 01100001 01101011 01100101 00100000 01101110 01101111 00100000 01110011 01101001 01100100 01100101 01110011 00101110 00100000"

Wolf Company

The third by far outranks the first. First off it has more defense platoforms and turrets. Second it has a shield generator so you would be given time to defend your self in case a hostile fleet warped in while you were not prepared. It also has a deployable warp distruption field and well. It is in all cases superior. You inform the station of your victory. They thank you for your services and welcome you to their station. When they can, they will repair your ships for free and pass along any gear they can not use.

ISF

Your ECM team for the Scorpion manages to listen in to AFRs outgoing messages. But they fail to listen in to the respone of the robots. Their systems are far superior and their messages apparently non-interceptable.

You buy a sample of everything and bring it onboard for testing. Meanwhile your men ask around for the water source but only the water merchant knows of it. He has been supplying the whole colony it seems. None the less he refuses to tell you where he is getting it from. It's bad for business he says.

None of the men of the colony have still decided wether they want to come with you.

I recall them mentioning something about having the resources to build docks for the ships, (but I'm on my phone so I can't dig it up) inquire about it.

"Maintain the recruitment effort, keep the food search up and keep your eyes open for any trouble. Try to see if we can help the colonists with anything - that should be of use to us in the long run.

And have someone watch that water merchant - covertly, of course."

Wolf Company

They explain they would need time and resources. They'd need to get the mining colony working again.
Your soldiers shared stories with the inhabitence of the station and the administration overheard it.
There for they ask you clear the abandoned mining colony so they can send in workers, restore the facility and begin working.
After they do so. They could begin construction of infrastructure you demand.

ISF

Your results turn out positive. The colonial food is not infested with spores and seems to be working well.
The pyschologist wing of your main ship demands you deliver them the unique fruits. They are in fact boosting happyness.
One of your men might pull out of his psychological problems if he keeps consuming these fruits.

One of your men sits in a tree , in a futuristic ghillie suit. He takes his thermal scoped weapon and looks at the water merchants house. What he notices is that the merchant has a big basement and seems to be collecting something within the basement. Your men conclude that the water source could be in fact in his basement.

Twenty men and their families decide to join you from the AFR colony.
It just so happens that fifteen of them are married and have kids. So, there are fifteen more women onboard and seven children.

The orbital cannon in space is finally online. Seems like the robots are charging it up.

AFR

You hear around thirty people or so are leaving the colony.
