Author Topic: i dont get homeschooling  (Read 11064 times)

Homeschooling is forbidden in many countries. And i think they forbid it for a reason and not just for fun...

so what happens if your parents are handicaps? do you get taught to be handicapped?

There are no advantages to it. It only seems to create social outcasts who have no friends.

You obviously know very little about Home schooling...

Well OP, I'll explain. ( I'm e-schooled and I tend to get defensive about this).

Home schooling doesn't mean you'll be a social outcast, it depends on what kind of person you are. If your the kind who huddles in a corner cause they are too lazy to open the door and say "Hello" to someone, or ride their bike 5 mins into town, then you will be a little socially awkward, and you won't have many friends. However, if you put yourself out there and actually attempt to make friends, you'll have friends just like in Public school, I've seen so many people that I couldn't tell if they were home schooled or public schooled, they seemed normal. Homeschooling usually ends up to be for kids who are working too fast in the public school and want to work at their own pace, or they were bullied, or they weren't concentrating / working fast enough in the public classroom. E-Schooling and Traditional Home schooling are almost completely different, the only 2 things they have in common is that you are at home and not in a brick school. E-School can be better for those who are scared of not making friends, because it's an online public school, you still meet people. And your forced to go to school outings (Such as go bowling, school trips, etc)... And for testing, you go to a building and take your tests. In normal home schooling you don't get your High school diploma, you get your GED, which is generally worse than a High school diploma, E-Schools, will graduate you with a class, you actually get to go the ceremony, and you get a diploma. Don't get my wrong, I'm not against Home schooling at all. I'm not all out for E-Schooling, they are both great. And you can still go to college and such with a GED. In traditional home schooling, your usually taught by your parents, but most parents will hire a tutor or get you a computer program. In E-School you have multiple certified teachers. Your parents only make sure you do your work. Yes, grades count. Forgot to add, that it also depends on what environment your in, if you have over-protective parents that like to shelter their child from society, than it will suck. If your parents have morals and aren't super protective, it could be the best time of your life, however most parents feel like they are doing their child good by stopping them from having lives, thus making their child resent Home schooling and their parents. So if you want to go home schooling, tell your parents to stop being over-protective and stop being handicapped.

No, usually traditional home schooling has an online program that teaches you, and then your parents help.

>implying the only reason you go to public school is to make friends, not to learn anything.

why does it matter where you are educated?

Some people learn differently. Some people will learn faster than others, and others will be slower than others. Or maybe its just your setting, too many people can make you lose concentration.

I'm homeschooled, I'm not awkward at all. My mom was a high school teacher, so my education is going great. I was pulled from the public system after 1st grade, went to a private school for 5 years, and now I'm homeschooled. The public schools in my area have no funding and poor teachers. I'm also quite precocious, so the specialized education works well.

Well, I don't even have to say what I do because everyone here knows it. I used to be an ordinary public schooler up to 4th grade, then I was introduced to an online school called K12. Basically, I can go at my own pace and choose which lesson to do when. I haven't gotten less than an A on my report cards since I started this program.

wait

I missed it

Because I was at SCHOOL

I was originally homeschooled because I was a rather dangerous little devil, up until private school at 5th grade, then public school for high school, which I am in now. Homeschooling isn't bad, and honestly I might have preferred it if my mom wasn't the one teaching, but there was no other option.

Also, Sir Bricksalot and I both have many friends who homeschool as well. It's not something that will automatically make you unable to make friends, it just makes it a little more difficult; you have to actually put yourself out into the open on your own more.

The benefits are (for those with thick skulls and small brains):
  • No 8 hour days
  • Wake up whenever
  • Computer all day erry day
  • More learning/ability to work on more difficult things so you learn them instead of being left behind

Yale, Harvard and other big-name colleges want you to go to their campuses
No high-school drama BS, fake friends, or anything of the ilk
You're not fed biased crap from every faucet imaginable

What a load of bull.

This thread: Homeschooled kids circle jerking about how they get to stay home all day.

You are really stupid in this area. Not every homeschooler does that.

A huge amount of this is true. Do your research.
Because parents are the definition of unbiased. At least at a public school you get bias from both sides.
Because all parents are your primary teachers, and all parents are so bad they don't let their own children actually form their own opinions. This doesn't apply to everyone in case you are forgetting.

I'm homeschooled. I can finish school in like 2 hours. Also I do all my school on the computer. It doesn't take as long because I'm ahead of my grade. (I don't feel smarter tho :/)

When you said this I wanted punch you and kick you in the butt.
Because resorting to violence solves everything.
