Uncountable number of galaxies, uncountable number of stars within those galaxies, uncountable number of planets around said stars, life takes on many forms, it's statistically moronic to think Earth is the only planet harboring life.
I don't believe, however, that alien life has visited Earth. Although, nearly anything is possible.

Exactly, there are several million dollar prizes that are offered if true evidence is provided.

I definitely believe that there is intelligent life somewhere out there. With our current knowledge, the probability that there is not intelligent life in the universe other than our own is so small that you'd need to be an idiot to not think so.

On topic though, I do believe if civilizations don't come to ruin by nature, they destroy themselves.  I suspect the vast majority fall in these ways.  

For example, if someone wealthy or determined enough desired to get a nuke, they could.  The cold war generated tons of them.

A nuclear war could be sparked, and mutually assured destruction (MAD) would be a reality for those involved...which would be everyone via alliances.

Additionally, some were lost.

Other civilization destroying factors are meteor impacts, super volcanoes, etc.

No one claims to be either an expert or a mathematician. Everyone who has paid attention in their statistics class and/or natural sciences class could come up with the these arguments. Oh, and using the word 'statistically' makes perfect sense here.

The fact that "most" civilizations destroy themselves doesn't change the fact that they exist. Actually, they do have to exist before they can destroy themselves, don't they? But I agree with you that the chance of meeting extraterrestrial life is basically non-existent.

A lot of people are saying that lots of planets = guaranteed life. This isn't the case. Sure, there are zillions of planets that could support life and they have had zillions of years to do it, but we haven't the slightest idea what exactly the probability of "supporting life" turning into "holding life" is. If that probability is super duper small, then there might be almost zero chance of other life. We do know, however, that intelligent life is rare compared to unintelligent life, so if life turns out to be really rare, then intelligent life might not be out there.
