Author Topic: Fell down a flight of stairs.  (Read 805 times)

So yeah, clumsy me. About 40 minutes ago, I slipped and fell down a staircase. I hurt my back and my bottom so badly the pain was too much for me to be able to move a lot for a couple of minutes.

My butt still hurts right in the middle back where I think my tailbone is. Whenever I bend over or sit down or anything like that, I get a jolt of pain.

Should I worry about this? I took 2 Advils and it still is bothering me.

reminded me of one time I was about to go to bed (I was like 7), tried a somersault and tumbled into a wooden dresser with my spine, I just laid in bed because it too much to move.

Slept it off and felt fine the next day, but I was scared af.

anywho, OT;
If the pain persists the next day and it isn't just soreness you either bruised or broke something, go get it looked at

pain persisting after taking an over-the-counter painkiller isn't a reason to worry
so no don't worry

Maybe you broke your tail bone?!

Are the stairs okay?

Are the stairs okay?
I bet OP didn't even exchange insurance information with them

Happened to me in middle school.

Well, I was pushed, but whatever. It's no fun. =[

You don't have anything to worry about. If you had done any serious damage, it would be less annoying, and more debilitating to the point of not being able to move the injured areas without intense agony.

The advils will probably relieve some of the pain, but I wouldn't suggest taking dosages of painkillers for lighter injuries too often.

Considering it's a back injury, you might not want to sit or lay down for awhile. Go take a walk or jog on a treadmill, do some stretches. Back injures heal slower while you're resting.

funny
i missed a step walking down stairs in school today
but being that i'm such a good grappler and can sooo easily regain my boundings, after busting my ass once i scrambled my feet and caught the rail and pulled myself up
and laughed.
only slid like two steps.

but when i was little i used to fall down the stairs a lot anyway :(

stairs can really mess you up

always make sure to pay back your loans kids

if it keeps bothering you after a couple days, consider seeing a doctor

'Eeh, you should be alright.

How bruised is your back?

If the pain persists through to the next day or beyond even through painkillers, I'd advise going to see a Doctor.
If it's really bad, then try Accident and Emergency.

Could be that you've damaged your Coccyx.
But if you had broken it, I'd imagine you'd be in considerable pain.
I had a friend who broke his when he fell off his chair.

Anyway, try not to push yourself too hard on it. You don't want to do more damage to it.
And if the pain persists or gets worse, be very careful with painkillers and pay attention to the instructions on them.
It might seem obvious, but people very easily take too many thinking it will help, when it does more harm than good.
If you forget how many you've had, or how long ago you had them, don't take any more. Better to take none than accidentally take too many.

I'd be wary. I accidentally slipped on a single step a while ago and sprained my wrist. I didn't even notice until the next morning because after the impact it (that is to say, my wrist) seemed fine.
