Author Topic: I'm so so happy  (Read 2293 times)

I just finished highschool forever on monday, and graduation is tomorrow. Finally done with all the boring classrooms forever. I just got off the phone with my financial advisor at DeVry, and she just gave me the best news ever, that I'm done with paperwork and have all the prerequisites for attending college. I'm now an enrolled student at DeVry University, and I start July 7th for the summer term at the Pittsburgh campus. My major is computer information systems, minor is Game Engine Development. CIS is a 2 year degree, so I'll be 18 turning 19 when I graduate college.

All the years of suffering at school are finally over. I can actually start doing things my way now. I can't wait to get to college. But, now my priorities shift to earning $900 before then so I can build a new computer rig for college.

Don't you need your General Ed.?

I thought they made that a requirement at college.

Not all colleges.
This is a trade school, I'm only attending classes that have to do with my major / minor.

Not to be a richard, but DeVry is a terrible choice. You would be better off getting an associates from a community college, it'll cost a lot less.

I don't know why everybody says that DeVry is a bad college, it really isn't.

It really is. The price to quality is awful. On top of that it's a for profit college, which is never a good thing.

Well, scholarships and grants cover my first year completely, I'll only need a small loan around november, so I'm not entirely worried about that.
There isn't many decent places around western PA that offer computer sciences, and I'd rather not go out of state for now. DeVry happened to be the best choice for me at the moment.
Besides, I really love the location of this campus; Right in the middle of the cultural district of Pittsburgh

congratulations, you're going to be miserable. devry sucks academic richards, just like kaplan and phoenix.

you graduated at 16? did you have all your credits or something?

DeVry really is an awful choice, a state school would of been so much better. If you had a 3.0 gpa and got an 1100 combined math and reading on the SATS you could of got a full tuition scholarship for any state school. I got it and all I need to do to keep it is have a 3.0 gpa.

3.0gpa averaging out all 4 years of highschool?

To get it you need 3.0 cumulative gpa for highschool and 1100 combined math & reading on SAT's. To keep it you have to keep a cumulative 3.0 gpa in college. It covers tuition completely and that's it I think. Though you might also give you like a few hundred dollar grant each semester. I don't really remember but I do get the scholarship and a  pell grant and a state grant. I make money each semester :D

I have a summer birthday and I skipped 7th grade.

Meh, Penn State is just a party school.
I actually got a 1550 on math and reading on my SAT, technically I could go to any college that I want just off of that. But, I slacked off a lot in highschool, so I wouldn't be able to meet the GPA requirement.
