Author Topic: Parents sue Pittsburgh Zoo over toddler's mauling death even when it was THEM.  (Read 5313 times)

At least the dogs ate well
Am I the only one that laughed at this?

parents should be sued for feeding the animals.

The area in which a persons actions are considered innocent to some degree is sort of a grey area in this case, but ultimately, it is what it is, blame for a very serious crime is being placed on an innocent.
it's not like the zoo is one person
it'd probably better emotionally for everyone if the law suit went through and won, that way the parents can pretend it wasnt their fault and not have to live in utter pain for the rest of their life and the zoo won't feel as bad as they would because a. the zoo isnt one person and b. they aren't the parents of the child

im sure the zoo would be very happy if the law suit goes through.

probably a million times happier than the parents are right now

probably a million times happier than the parents are right now
The zoo loses money because some parents decided to disobey the rules, ignore the signs, and end up killing their own child.

The Zoo is comprised of people and would all suffer a loss.

I said an innocent, the zoo, meaning the group of people that thrive on the paychecks they get from it, is innocent and has done nothing wrong, if the suit went through, the zoo would assume responsibility for that child's death, would most likely be shut down, or at the very least lose all popularity it ever had before that point, and be required to pay the parents a very high monetary sum, you make it sound like these people just have money to throw around freely.

People would be out of work, and the whole situation would, in the end, be an injustice many times worse than what has already happened.

Yeah you're completely overestimating what a lawsuit would do. It wouldn't close the zoo. Also how would it lose any more popularity then it already did from the incident? You also don't know exactly what happened, you just read a news article. There is a lot more to it then some short news article trying to get readers.

I am operating within the bounds of what information has been presented so far, and if a news site has already picked this up, it will most likely become big news what happens in the end as well, so long as people are interested in the story.

I admit I do not know what constitutes a zoo shutdown however and assumed given the circumstances, the risk was high.

I say most likely in the above post because I am not sure of what really would happen.

I highly doubt this would force the zoo to shut down. There is also way more to this than some news article that is most likely sensationalized tells you. This happened like 6 months ago also.

I was not aware of this as I had not checked any date, and assumed it was new news.

Nope it happened in November, it even says it in the news article. I guess the family just decided to go ahead with the lawsuit now. I'm not saying the zoo is at fault or the family is. I don't know because all I've read are these news articles which don't really tell that much at all.

Well after a little research it would appear that is the only information anyone has, the lawsuit must be ongoing because I cannot find anything that says it was settled.

So a large chunk of what I said still stands.

The date is indeed an observation error on my part tho.
