It's an indie game so if you pirate it I will loving come over to your house and teach you a lesson.

It's kinda sad that indie games are the place to go when looking for a game like this. The big corporations don't quite understand the complexity of not adding in ridiculous explosions, tons of guns, and horrible limitations.

Then you have games like dead island.. that try to be realistic.. but you have no idea why.

I remember yesterday thinking that if I was ever a game dev, I would make a zombie game where the setting is in an open-world city or a small town with zombies roaming the street and homes, and really the most you can do is hide, kinda like amnesia, but sometimes you'd find things like a bat or knife, but they'd barely do really any damage at all but push back or hurt the zombies for a bit, and a gun would be the rarest of them all, while there's also a hunger, thirst, and temperature system, depending on the season that's randomly picked for the game, and rain would effect the temp. system too, while there'd also be some cars/vans in the streets, vans mostly having supplies, like food and liquid, and there'd be enterable buildings, but there would be two or four zombies in the places, but rarely, and you'd be able to raid fridges and all, but the main thing in the game is to hide.

Now, onto the topic, project zomboid seems to be your type.

imo zombie games like dead island and L4D, among many others, suck
because there's little to no emotion
a zombie apocalypse would be like, the most emotional situation on the planet
but they don't really do that >:c
dead island had a wonderfully emotional trailer, but the game is like, nothing like that!

>Zombies
>Realistic

It's a shame there isn't much of these kinds though :C

L4D
L4D was never really intended to be 'dramatic'. It's more of an arcade co-op shooter than anything else.

yeah...?

I would say its pretty realistic. Who's to say that during a zombie apocolypse, people wont rob and kill each other?
lol
that's what's realistic about it

Yes it is realistic that people would kill / rob each other but DayZ is entirely centered around PvP combat. Everyone just fires immedatly on sight even if you only have a flashlight and an empty backpack. Some people just sit on a building roof and snipe people from a far without even thinking about looting the bodies.
The zombies are just horribly made and clunky because well it's Arma and it wasn't made to realistically simulate melee combat in any shape or form. They become so easy to deal with once you have enough gear / have a team / know how to avoid them properly. The entire survival aspect and the zombies are both boring as forget. Hunting / killing players is far more engaging than all of that other nonsense you have to deal with. Dayz can become very boring so quickly  if you aren't playing with friends.
But on the other hand every game becomes far more enjoyable when you are playing it with friends.

>playing cataclysm
>not playing dda
Scrubs.

I really didn't feel like looking for that site, I don't even really play it anymore.

Dead Frontier?
Severely lacking, but bluh.

yes... realistic
in an actual zombie apocalypse, I'm willing to bet more people will die because of other humans than the zombies
and zombies in real life would also be really easy to deal with once you have enough gear / have a team / know how to avoid them properly

Mmm buggy game, horrible player base, hacks.. SO REAL.

it's a mod
and are you seriously implying that the players and their hacks determine the realism of a game?
