Homeworld 2 is one of the first RTS games with 3D cameras and models in space enviromment.
1. Main RacesHiigara:
You play as Hiigaran in main canpaign, research costs a lot, they're very fast and swift, the "good guys"
Vaygr:
The big bad boys, research costs little but need to research the ships, hiigaran ships are purchased as a single one research, heavy and slow, disorganized and likes swarm tactics.
2. The GameplayThe game play in HW2 is simple, harvest RUs (Resource Units) and build your fleet, while attacking and defending simultaniously.
Battlecruisers and that kind of ships aren't the "super ships"; they can be taken down with a group of bombers with the "imp bombs" research, that causes more damage to subsystems.
Camera is easy to control and there is a camera freedom.
There are diverse commands, such as "Retire" - recicle ship "Scuttle" - self destruct and etc.
3. Tactical ordersDefensive: Will counter-attack if enimy fires on you.
Passive: Will not attack or defend other ships.
Agressive: Will attack ships in sight. Frigates and capital ships will rotate their turrets towards the target and fire, but will not move unless ordered to.
4. Ship classFighters - smallest ships, cheap and effective in groups, also really fast.
Corvette - The "heavy" strike craft, can have small turrets on its hull, deadly in swarms.
Frigate - medium ships, incredibly affective in large groups, but can be surrounded by a destroyer or large group of bombers.
Capital ships - Destroyers, battlecruisers and carriers are on this class, the most expensive class, but with more health and destruction capability.
5. Media
A large group of Vaygr heavy missile frigates attacking a mobile refinery, notice that the frigate in the upper part in the screen is surrounded by bombers.
