Author Topic: Why did they remove the maps?  (Read 3780 times)

They were loads of fun ~

Glitch/lighting issue.
Something like that, all I really know is it got really red and no fix was done.
It was a lighting issue, players would be tinted blue, but the ground would be red, swapping the red and blue values for the lighting would make the ground blue again, but the players would be red

Somehow, the map's red and blue values for the lighting were swapped

They removed it due to how buggy and laggy they were and to remove "limitations".
All we got from it so far are shades and shaders and please refrain from posting things like this, they can stir up stuffstorms.
Seriously though, they remove something that everyone can run (they weren't laggy) because apparently it affected how the game updates and was slow and buggy and then replace it with something that almost only about half of the community can run. They said the removal of terrains would pave way for more feature(s) but I guess by that they just meant for shaders because we haven't gotten anything in the last 9 loving months.

Wait a minute, why the hell did we use per pixle lighting which is a FPS hog that has a lot of requirements rather than something like Voxel lighting? Badspot could have made it look a lot better than how other games currently present it so I don't see why he didnt pick it.

I really think they should re-implement them in a way that works with the code. It just doesn't seem fair to remove something like interiors and terrains for good.

This might be a stupid idea, but I think it'd be nice if there were 2 core modes to Blockland: Designer mode (S&S, slate maps), which would be used for pretty picture builds and such, and Game mode (name subject to change)(T&I, no shaders), which would be more for oher things that include maps, and mostly gamemmodes.

Y/N?

Stop complaining, you sound like Kalphiter talking to Ephialtes, which is a bad thing even though Kalph is a pretty cool guy. Badspot knows what the forget he's doing. I may not agree with the removing of maps but I don't whine about all of the other things that are in the game. Learn to enjoy what you've been given.

Good idea, but not sure about its realism.

to those of you who say that maps were hideous,

I like this idea, not sure how you'd implement it though

Please for the love of god, please stop talking about maps. its just really dumb how people talk about this when there is already a topic for it.

Please read the development threads to find this stuff out and dont post topics like these.

Stop, you're gonna make me cry :c
