Author Topic: Is there a way to get blcokland dedicated server hosting for mac osx 10.4  (Read 964 times)

title.
I found an old mac that I had and I need to hook it up for server hosting. I tried downloading it but it didn't launch.
Any ideas?

First, does Blockland actually work on it? Considering 10.4 is a pretty old version and I think it was meant for PowerPC processors (not 100% sure and I'm also not sure if that has any effect). As for actually loading a dedicated server, try reading these here:

If these wont work write back ASAP and I will try myself tomorrow

Lemmie look at them. I was going to try to install damn small linux or something else on it but I don't know how to boot from a CD or DVD from mac

I know my old pc I used for hosting blockland dedicated servers that it couldn't even launch the game but it could run the dedicated server console thingy just fine.

Noo, don't install linux on there solely for running a Blockland server, it won't work if your Mac has powerpc, does it?  If it does the reason why it won't work is because you need to install a program called Wine which runs windows programs on linux in order to get the dedicated working however wine wasn't designed for powerpc processors and the same for the windows programs. Your best bet right now is to just stay on 10.4, again I need know if you have a powerpc processor and if the game even works on there. If your PC is powerpc and the game works then just stay on 10.4, if its not powerpc and the game doesn't work then you can try upgrading to Leopard (you can upgrade to leopard on powerpc but I dont really see the point) or install Linux (id pick Debian or CentOS, you can run a Blockland Speedkart server holding 3-4 people with ony 240mb of system memory, maybe even a bit more)
