Author Topic: let's talk about Donations  (Read 4794 times)

What makes you think that minor updates don't imply active development?

Lets be real. It has been over two years since you've updated your service with a 'major update'. That is a little longer than 9 months. Hows your new panel doing, still five months overdue?
Kalph, you are being completely ignorant. Your constant snaps at ephi are completely unneeded. It is obvious ephi, as a moderator, with permission to make a modification that adds to blockland (from badspot) is going to have more freedom to modify the game with his hosting service than you are.

Instead of bashing ephi repeatedly, why don't you actually try to bring out that new panel? How about you stop ripping on ephi and try to improve instead of running your service still just to get on his nerves. Why dont you actually actively try to create something better than his instead of being a insistant prick that your way is better when it factually isn't? How about you implement loving donator systems?
oh wait, you can't, because you don't have the freedom ephi does.

And how about your answer simple english questions when people give you them instead of sidestepping around them?

Totally ignored the statement that I made and went on to post petty bullstuff as per usual. What makes you think that minor updates don't imply active development?
I ignored your post because I saw the bottom of it. I'm sorry I didn't dig through your bullstuff to find something useful.

Defining "active development" is pretty subjective. Look at the amount of changes recently and compare them to those in the past. Judge for yourself: do we need someone else to develop RTB?

The 4 things were tiny changes.
1) This is bug-fixing and not new content.
2) Bug-fixing caused by an update that broke server information and something else (it took 2 months for this to get fixed)
3) New content, but not very big
4) Fixing programming error under 10 characters
See above. For the sake of all of us, be more honest.
You're complaining about a 9 month development break of a free to use add-on when you can't even be bothered to develop a paid service in 2-3 years? You're pathetic lol, do you even think about your logic before you go guns blazing into this drama?

Maybe it's time to give up on Kaphost for the sake of your clients? Even CBM the free alternative is running rings around you.

I'm the one who gets banned yet I don't consistently throw threads off-topic like Rub, Megaguy, and Big Brother.

Why the forget is this about me? All I'm asking for is some development. Why do my posts get deleted for petty things yet yours don't?

Love how you can't reply to any of the genuine points being made, is that an admission of defeat? Finally realising your pathetic logic is wrong? Nice!

It's hardly 'digging'. Failing to properly read a post which is a little under fifty words really shows me how good you are at processing information.

Are you loving serious? Look closely:
Here's a suggestion: stop making RTB-exclusive features.
You sent it off-topic.

It's 'about you' because you pranced into the topic as you usually do setting off fireworks whenever RTB is mentioned with your schlong out taking an e-piss over everything to do with your competitor. There has been development. There will be more development.

Kalph can't even reply to big brother or me, pathetic

the reason why we're "attacking" you is become you come dancing into the thread like a headless chicken as you usually do when RTB supasses your service. I'm trying to find out about donations, something i'm interested in, and you come in, shrieking about your service, RTB, how ephi is mean and the loving thread gets filled with your crap. No one wants to hear you. You're not relevant anymore. I want to find out about server donations, not about your service and your transluent logic.

Kalphiter your first account was banned because of your inability to control yourself. Now that you've got a new account lets see if you can hold onto this one this time around?

What happens to the money if someone receives more donations via RTB than is ever used to cover hosting costs? Does it get refunded or does the host / RTB just keep it? Like if donators pay to keep a server up for two months but the host ends up only hosting for one month?

That's a good question but not something I've come up with a good answer for yet. I think the most logical thing would be to refund donations if the server host allows the server to terminate without renewing it. That would indicate to me as the guy running the service that they don't intend to continue hosting or make use of the donations they've accumulated and at that point we could just refund the donators.

christ the arguing

I think that donations are fine, as long as they aren't just to pay for special features

You sent it off-topic.
No I didn't. I simply suggested that we target all server hosters instead of a small group of server hosters. That was completely on-topic. Here's where it turned personal:
Lol, I would advise against trusting Kalphiter as the authority on RTB's active development status. He's still a bit sore over ... you know what ...

I actively try to stay on-topic by ignoring any personal attacks. You guys are taking this off-topic by making this topic about me.

We were talking about expanding this donation feature to all server hosters, and it would be nice if we continued to do so...

pretty sure it turned 'personal' around here, if you'd even call it that lol

Ephialtes has since stopped most development of the free part of RTB. It's really disappointing to see his priorities in exclusiveness.

This is the post where you brought the free version of RTB into a discussion about hosting services and donations. This is irrelevant.

If individual blockland servers weren't so short-lived, I'd support this fully, but the ability to just make something new and restart kind of ruins this, unless there's an alternate method I'm not thinking of...or I misread something.

1) Everybody who has set up the donation feature has a "donation profile"
2) On this "donation profile" page, the person must specify his monthly costs and the amount of servers, as well as a description of each.
3) There is a count of how much money this person has received, so if costs are covered, people can choose whether they want to donate anyway

For number 3, there could be some way to track all the donations and how long ago they were.

I think that donations are fine, as long as they aren't just to pay for special features

If you mean paying for personal special features it can't even be called donations.

I would donate but paypal never takes my loving debit cards.
