Love music, not fond of songs

Please tell me that I'm not the only one out there who can't stand singing 99% of the time, but otherwise loves music.  To me, vocals and lyrics seem like an unnecessary addition to music, and it mystifies me as to why they're so common.  It also mystifies me as to why there's no general term for a piece of music, regardless of whether or not it contains singing.  Anyone else here love music, but not songs?

I prefer music without vocals. The music in my opinion is what makes it music. Not the lyrics about you breaking up with your boyfriend or taking a grenade for your girlfriend.
God damn it, so many people are so pathetic in songs. It makes me sick.
