Author Topic: Love music, not fond of songs  (Read 827 times)

"Song" herein is defined as "that which is sung."

Please tell me that I'm not the only one out there who can't stand singing 99% of the time, but otherwise loves music.  To me, vocals and lyrics seem like an unnecessary addition to music, and it mystifies me as to why they're so common.  It also mystifies me as to why there's no general term for a piece of music, regardless of whether or not it contains singing.  Anyone else here love music, but not songs?

Yeah I have this problem too. I hate singing but love the instrumentals.

I love the vocals in Time by Pink Floyd though.
It really just depends on what the song is like.

I prefer music without vocals. The music in my opinion is what makes it music. Not the lyrics about you breaking up with your boyfriend or taking a grenade for your girlfriend.
God damn it, so many people are so pathetic in songs. It makes me sick.

I'm not a big fan of vocals in general but sometimes it adds to the music I guess

Lol'd because that was my reaction.

To me, lyrics make the music change between ambiance music and music I actually pay attention to.
