Author Topic: Garry's Mod is now on SteamPipe  (Read 1949 times)

Loading times are about 100x faster, and developing with lua is extremely easy now too.
I dislike the new dedicated server system though.

It's breaking and bugging for quite a few people though

But Garry did re-implement player velocity carrying over to the player's ragdolls like they did in Gmod 10, so i'm happy and now i can go try out Falleritus again

oh my god it's taking so loonngggg

It's not a thing you get, it's what Steam games like CS:GO, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, etc run on, Steam Pipe allows players to connect to servers faster and in some cases, lets people customize the games easier than just overwriting stuff

https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamPipe

Games are automatically transferred to Steampipe via updating, if Garry's Mod still exists in the username folder instead of username/commmon, try backing up your Gmod stuff and reinstall it

Valve is slowly updating all source games to steam pipe. You'll need to verify the steam cache of those games, most likely they will have to convert as well.

For some reason I can't mount Half-Life: Source and Half-Life Deathmatch: Source :c

Hee hee I bet you can't

Hee hee I bet you can't
I don't get it.
is that some kind of gay biker talk?

Because they're not Steampipe'd yet

I don't know if Valve will actually put that on Steampipe

Which saddens me, because the maps in Gmod were so very close to being a near perfect recreation of Half Life Source in a different game

I remember when they were still being worked on, there were no NPCs, i think they used the Half Life 2 world models for weapons like the shotgun and such and any HL1 specific weapons weren't there, cubemaps were messed up, and events and levels wouldn't trigger properly

I've also noticed some textures from CS:S and HL2 are broken.

You tried making sure the games are mounted, verifyed and converted to Steampipe?
