well, no, that's what the shadow is for. to tell us it's there

and if it WAS there, and the light was coming from directly in front of him, it wouldn't cast a shadow on his face, and the elbow shadow still wouldn't make sense

still doesn't really make sense, if there's an object blocking above him then where the hell is the second light source coming from (the blue-ish one to his left)

if it was a cave, there'd be nothing but blackness in the back, and nothing for the sunlight to reflect off of, and the only thing I can think of that emits a cold blue-ish light is moon, which obviously can't be out at the same time as the sun (or inside the cave for that matter)

and really what else could it BE, given the appearance of the background
