there is no actual information about dragons, and in the end people just think up characteristics, probably including a basic guideline to something to be confirmed a dragon (scales, breathes fire, flys in sky, ect.)

The mythos surrounding dragons comes from myths, legends, fantasy novels, etc. and have been mostly the same throughout history. You can't just change it because some loveually confused drake wants it to.
