According by the character bio he is a Fennec fox so its accurate in that department, not sure why he has red fox coloring though...

I think that's just lighting. It's interesting to see his work because it gives off a 3d feel with the red/blue hues.

It's a lighting effect.
The actual colour of the hair n "red" parts would be more akin to brown than anything if you removed the red/blue hues.

Just like a Fennec.
