I'm saying your IP address doesn't affect that. it has nothing to do with it
IP address has everything to do with port forwarding.

IP address has everything to do with port forwarding.
no it doesn't...
port forwarding is a router thing. when your ISP gives you a different IP address, it doesn't change your router's settings

alyx didnt calim 3700 so i will :3

I never said it does, when the IP4 changes it undoes the port forwarding because it doesn't know to forward the ports on your PC through.

The only IP that matters is your computers IP
This wouldn't be changed by unplugged your router

For some reason my IP4 changes each time it goes off and on.

Your IP is on your modem. Anyone connected to the same modem will have the same public IP. Resetting your modem can assign it a new IP.

christ, that's not how it works. your router doesn't even know what your external IP address is

I think Peavy is talking about his internal IP which changed when he unplugged his router, making him change the port forwarding to his new IP.

Correct
But port forwarding doesn't forward to the modem's IP
It forwards to your computer's IP
Which is set by neither the modem or router

IP4
can you stop saying this because I dont think it means what you think it means and it's not even the right term

his internal IP which changed when he unplugged his router
And what we're talking about is that it doesn't work that way
