Wow, must be sad to have a quality character that you put so much time and effort into, only to have to sell it off

It is for a college, but still... 'sucks

Someone actually bought it.
Ok.

Someone actually bought it.
Ok.
Bid* And yeah of course, Servy is the figurehead of the gezak species. And gezaks are pretty known around the more (i haTE this word:) popular furries. Not to mention 500$ for 100 arts including art from Wolfy-Nail, Squeedgemonster, Aycee, Matrices and Uriko44; a custom plushie, 40 badges, and a fursuit head from 4 fursuit creators that collaborated, is a hella loving good deal.

but is the species going to still be locked off or is it "open" for people to make characters of now

It's still an adopt-only species. But let's not segway back to that kerfuffle.

lol selling characters is the stupidest thing ever

Selling physical pieces like badges and fursuit (although $1000 is a steep price for just a head, when it's used) makes total sense.
But for digital art, unless the artists gave her copyright ownership, she doesn't own it, and thus I'm pretty sure she doesn't have any legal right to make money "selling" it. And thus whoever buys the artwork will still not truly "own" it

i have decided that i am a furry and that when i stopped calling myself one it was just a break
I'd also like to admit that I actually hate avians and my true love is for donkeys

I wasnt sure if you guys would accept me so I made up a lie until I felt it was time
guys im actually straight
omg

What? It's true
Look, all I'm saying is don't be surprised if one of the artists who own these pictures decide they don't like her making money off of their work.
Everything else is, as I said, completely reasonable. On second thought, the fursuit head price isn't even as steep as I first thought; I frequently see premades go for quite a bit

Ooooh from that point of view! Yeah, I can understand that, even though I wouldn't mind it if I was an artist myself. But commissioning someone is /buying/ their art where you own it unless you agree to something that says otherwise.

No, it's not. The copyright is still held by the artist, unless they specifically choose to sign it over to you
