Would you like to continue, yes or no?
the answer you're going to get for this question will be a large mix of yes's and no's but because you're doing the skit, i suppose you're going to continue nevertheless

I have lizard

One of the worst fears of having such a long lender tongue D:

I have lizard

Acknowledge my fursuit friend first

I need to mess around with video on my camera more
Something like 6 or 7 thousand shutter clicks in 9 months, and I haven't done a single actual video.

My official position is photographer though, so that has to take priority over videos.

So the only thing i could really do is if I buy a new camera, I could keep my old one, and set that up on a tripod for video while i take photos during things like fursuit parade, but that would cost me about ~$300 from not being able to sell the camera instead, and potentially ~$300 more on another lens if I decide I want to use the same one on both cameras at the same time, which is something I'd have to mess around with taking videos in low light to determine

If you're just going to take videos for personal use, use the stock lens. No need to use a longrange/heavy duty/wide area lens if that's not your priority.

It's not really for personal use, it would be convention coverage going on their official YouTube channel.

Focal length isn't the concern here, but rather a fast aperture because the con space is pretty low light. I've already replaced by kit lens with a f/2.8 zoom in the same range. But for video, might be able to get away with a really high iso, because scaling down all the way to 1920*1080 would make noise less visible, so that might not be an issue. I just need to experiment. Fast aperture lens might not even be relevant, as I may stop down to like f/8 for more DoF for unattended video. Again, I need to experiment.

But like I said, video isn't my priority as my official position is photographer.

I do eventually want to get an ultra wide angle for huge group shots where backing up isn't an option
