This is the only one where they've anthropomorphized them to a fully modern human society. Like its literally people but as animals. The other ones were like, forest and stuff.

I'd say it's been around since the preview pics or whatever
It couldn't have been around since the announcement, cuz there weren't even character designs when it was announced
EDIT: ok it was announced august 2013, and there are two pics on e621 uploaded august 2013, but they're just extremely generic fox character with no real details cuz those didn't exist much. Then there was a ton of pics starting june 2015
