the hypocrisy of the people who told him to take away that sign
on the contrary, i just don't like people who claim to be "modern, open-minded people" who are actually the exact opposite of open-minded and want to silence the voices of all who disagree with them about anything.

the only reason someone would wear a sign denouncing an entire culture is if they were extremely bigoted and prejudiced
it might be the equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ears, but it should be simple common courtesy to not act like a richard

islam isn't a race. and the man is partially right; many muslims around the world do want to destroy first-world countries such as the United States and Canada. on the other hand, most muslims living in canada and america do not want to destroy their countries, but that is not due to their religious beliefs but because of the influence of western society's more peaceful mindset than that of other regions in the world.

islam is not a culture, it is a religion. culture is what you get when a people group in a specific region has a general set of values, rules, styles and traditions they adhere to. and many of such cultural values in primarily-islamic countries such as Iran and Saudi Arabia are absolutely atrocious. for example, there absolutely no regard for the rights of women. they aren't allowed to get an education; they aren't allowed to choose who to marry; they have few ways to defend themselves in a court of law. their shares of assets in a divorce are practically nonexistent. it is not a culture to be praised or looked up to, nor defended.

America was just like this. Christianity even played a role in making people burn people to death just for being accused as a witch!

partially true. christianity was certainly involved in shaping the cultural values of those in salem in the 1600s. however, it is not due to what christianity teaches that led to those witch burnings, but because of the unjustified hatred, lack of love, and paranoia people had in that town and the region for their neighbors and acquaintances. even so, back then, people were treated generally better than people are treated now in modern-day islamic countries with sharia law.

pretty sure it was christianity.

it was christianity.
"the Puritans also believed strongly in the wrath of God and did everything they could to prevent themselves from receiving it. This is why the witch scare was taken so seriously and the accused were punished harshly. The first women to be accused as witches were those who strayed from the Puritan lifestyle and were considered to be social outcasts." source

you will find nothing in christianity's teachings in application for today that apply to stoning or burning people on a stake. in some old testament law, there were some commandments meant for the israelites regarding the stoning of wicked people, but those were meant for a specific purpose and for that specific time period. when Christ came in the new testament, he fulfilled the old testament law, and the usage of such methods to punish sinful people were rescinded.

as is one of the core tenents of christianity, nothing we do can appease God's wrath; his wrath on those who believe was appeased by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross paying for our sins. the puritan's actions were highly unbiblical.

29. Self Delete
