destroying something that is rare is bad, because it is rare, but none of the guns posted on that page or the next are rare or even particularly old
except media of the time is considered history, if I had an original press print of say, Uncle Tom's Cabin, it would be worth quite a bit
I guess modern guns your argument works, but the WW2 era Kar 98s are pretty loving priceless, assuming its a maintained original model. Even if it was mass produced, considering the destructive force of the war (and the demilitarization of Germany), it's hard to say whether a lot are still in workable condition. Considering its original stock, its probably from WW2, and is a historical relic.
