The NSA monitors all communication internationly, it's really not a big deal. They do it for National Security and other things.

Because no one has actually said anything about the actual events, here's my understanding:

PRISM is a program by the NSA through which they can gather all sorts of info through a combination of tapping into underwater cables and direct server access to businesses such as google and facebook they monitor citizens.

yeah I admit I was being an ass at the time, I don't know why I was acting like that. But what I was trying to say was he was going over the top because it seems like he was one of those "THE GOVERNMENT WATCHES US ALL ALL THE TIME AND KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT US" types of people. Also, I don't really like memes that much, and it wasn't a ragecomic if that's what you mean.

The National Security Administration had a whistleblower "leak" information regarding the NSA's ability to basically watch what you're saying or doing on the Internet, but the system (which is called PRISM) is only used, really, to spy on "suspected criminals".
